Next Fine Molds SW kits?
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, March 10, 2006 2:53 PM
Has any announcements at the Japanese Hobby shows been made for the Fine Molds Star Wars Kits?  They've released the Falcon and no news on what's coming up yet.

I heard from the grape vine that they are going to be doing the Y-wing and the A-wing next, but that maybe just a rumor.

Seeing as how they only deal in 1/72 scale, the A-wing would be TINY!  I am a bit anxious to see what they come out with next, but the Y-wing would be great!

I would lean more to the Y-wing or the b-wing myself, but the A-wing would be tiny about the same size as the delta 7.

I think a new Y-wing would be fantastic, I'm quite sure it would be a great seller too. Its about time we had a Y-wing on the market as at the mionute they are difficult to get hold of.

Y-Wing would be great. Other ships I'd love would be TIE Advanced, TIE Bomber, Lambda shuttle, B-Wing, ETA-2 JSF and Snowspeeder (although that would probably be on the wee side as well). Heck, bring them all on! Smile [:)] But with MR bringing out their studio scale, let's hope this is the year of the Y-Wing.

Isn't the A-wing larger than a Jedi Starfighter (which FM has already released)?

it is a little bigger, but at least the Starfighter had the hyperdrive ring to go with it

Yeah the A-wing is a little bit bigger than the aethersprite, but the delta 7 had the hyperdrive ring with it, and what wouldyou put with the Awing?

I would think a Y-wing or a B-wing, tie advanced or tie bomber, or star destroyer!!!!! or even betterthe tantive IV? nah! too big, the Lambda shuttle would be a good one too.

Now that would be a cool kit in itself! Can you imagine? The star destroyer bridge as a model kit! You can light it and it includes Imperial officers running for thier lives and a couple of Y-wings and a Kamakaze A-wing!, Cool!

Wasn't it actually a car they crashed into the bridge? Seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Personally,I wish anybody would produce a good kit of the TIE Bomber. It seems to be very popular with all kinds of collectors.I can't imagine why no company has mass produced this one.

I think that FineMolds would release either a TIE Bomber or Darth Vader TIE. The reason being is that it is possible they might be able to "tweak" their TIE/TIE Interceptor molds. Perhaps they might need a new mold. Honestly, ANYTHING FineMolds produces on the Star Wars unverse, will be received with open arms. I read somewhere that Lucas was impressed with FineMolds quality and attention to detail, he ended up giving all sorts of access to produce the Falcon. My dream ship is the Outrider in the same scale as the Falcon.

Whattever they produce, I'll be ready to pre-order it.

Happy Modeling,

I wouldn't be surprised if they went with something from ROTS, like the ARC-170. They seem to have been quick in capitalizing on the new movies, like both the JSF and Slave 1 from AOTC. As long as they don't do a Wookiee helicopter...

Obi-Wans and Anakin's Starfighters would be very welcome, maybe as one kit with options for either one.

An ARC-170 would be awesome.I would also appreciate a good kit of a Star Destroyer.FM makes everything in the same scale, correct?Aside from some quality issues, one thing I always hated about AMT/ERTL was the lack of consistancy of scale. You think a model company would know better.

Well, a star destroyer would be cool but it wouldnt be feasable in 1/72 if they stay in that scale as they have been, that ship would be huge that is if you talking about FM doing one.

A 1/72 Star Destroyer would be 22 metres long, and a Super Star Destroyer 263 metres. You're going to need a lot of glue...

It would be a dream come true if they decided to vary their scales and do the cap ships in a smaller scale and conversely do the smaller ships in a larger scale, such as a 1/48 Snowspeeder. However, I think they feel they have their hands full with the 1/72 line for a while yet.

I obviously didn't mean a SD in 1/72 scale.Oops [oops]

I would love to see capital ships produced in a smaller scale however.

How do you know that? or is it just wonderful wishful thinking? Not saying that I wouldn't want one as well.

If only they'd produce a 1/72 Naboo Royal Starship... has anything ever looked more slippery?

That is a great-looking ship, indeed!

I'll be going to the Shizuoka Hobby Show next month, so hopefully there'll be some official info announced there. If not, I'll grill Mr. Suzuki and the FineMolds boys about it until they crack!

Yup, it's Boba's Slave I. They had it on display next to Jango's at the show. Nice!

Yes, and I am a big enough man to say that I was wrong.. I dont know why I believed it.. But I heard a little rumour here in Japan about a Starfighter.. Considering they had the molds, a Slave 1 was way too obvious.. And with FM's great record of always surprising us, I simply felt that it would never be a re-tooling of something?

Anyways...
