Where can I find a Halcyon Aliens Drop Ship?
Posted by Trigger on Thursday, April 27, 2006 4:37 PM
I'm keeping an eye on eBay for this kit, and I remember from the Nats last year that some one still carries it - does anyone have any idea who?

Thanks in advance

I saw it and the Nostromo at the IPMS Seattle Show this past weekend - I don't remember who had it, but I got their card. I'll check tonight when I get home. IIRC, the drop ship was partially assembled and he was selling it cheap - the Nostromo was $35.

Halcyon discontinued it about three years ago. The escape pod will be rereleased soon. Aeoshima is going to release a die-cast version of the drop ship (about a foot long) and the APC to fit inside it( it comes with a marine) and it's about six inches long. I havent seen the plastic kits in a long while, good luck in finding one.

Trigger, no idea where you can find one, it's the new Holy Grail of kits it seems.  I'd love to have one, along with another APC that I could attempt to make an interior for as well.

Good hunting!

You might check out Federation Models and or Monsters in Motion. If you can, you could also attend Wonderfest. I usally see some there.

Good luck,

Can't help you find one, but I've been looking for years...and finally found one just last week at a local shop that carries old kits! Snapped it up in a heartbeat, too...for 2,500 yen. That's about $21 USD. Needless to say, it was a very satisfying buy!

The moral of the story is to wait, and one is just liable to appear before your very eyes, very cheap!

Good luck!

- I'll keep an eye out for one of those too and let you know if I find anything.

- Thanks for the leeds. Federation was sold out (I've e-mailed them anyway) and MinM was selling the $200 die-cast and for $150, a built up Halycon kit (where's the fun in that?). But I have bookmarked MinM for future reference, thanks.

- Yeah, patience is all I've got right now. There's one on eBay right now, but the seller has zero feedback history and there's two bids already from the same bidder (also with zero feedback) starting the price off at $60. Something smells funny about all that and I'm not going to bite.

You were in luck. I doubt anything like that would happen to many others here in North America. So rare to find a LHS, nevermind one carrying older kits. These things tend to go for pretty high on eBay when they do come on. Alas, I have to keep waiting, hoping, for one.

Don't forget garage sales and flea markets! There's always a chance one will pop up somewhere. Not a great chance, of course, but a chance none the less.

Eh.... let me just say this - trust me, there's very little chance of finding a Drop Ship at a Flea Market around here.

Agreed, but very little chance is still a chance none the less, as I said. If you DON'T look, then there's absolutely NO chance!

As has been mentioned, if you gotta have one NOW, eBay is probably the best (and most expensive) way.

Either way, good luck!

Absolutely no messin' man just swapped one for the Aoshima diecast one two weeks ago.

But try this guy, he has everything, Cometminiatures. Just Google.

Regards,

Terry.

Hi there,

I've got one I'm willing to sell for the right price.  Still have the original box, instructions and all the pieces although the kit itself has been partially assembled and painted.  Was going for an arctic version so painted with base coat, metallic blue and flat white - but if you're an experienced modeler I'm sure this will be no problem for you to fix to your liking.  Let me know if you're interested and make me your best offer.  Can take some pics also if neccessary, just have to borrow someone's camera.

Ebay is the one place where I see them surface semi-regularly.  That's where I bought mine last October or November (2005) for $65.00.

Thanks. I'm aware of ebay and the problem with ebay right now is that there are some people who are buying them up not to build, but as investments to turn around and sell again for a profit, thus driving up the price within the market. I've built it once already when I was in college and as far as kits go in general, it's not the best designed kit. It needs a lot of work, patience and TLC to get right (It ain't a shake-n-bake kit). I'm willing to pay for it, but what some of these have gone for, one can go ahead and get the new 1:72 die-cast replica that looks great, save themselves the trouble of building it, and it even has moving "wings."

I got one on eBay back in Jan for $70 about including post to Ireland from a UK seller. A bit expensive, but well worth it. Had to cut out the belly and scratch build the interior APC bay. Have it built with legs and ramp down. Now I need to get one of the 1/72 scale APCs to complete it.

I also want a 1/35 scale APC.....

.....and a fine molds Falcon.....

Hi , i was like you too searching for this Beauty untill i got it but i t was almos a tragedy. I can sell it but it is not going to be cheap , you see i got the Tsukuda (same one as Halcyon in 1/72) but it came with no main bay (the big one piece below) , in desperation i cried for someone who had this part , i got a reply but in the form of metal parts from the Leading Edge kit also in 1/72 , i've found they are compatible but it is going to take Some work for adapting  the metal bay and the plastic parts(the bay is made of more than 7 pieces in metal), it can be fun for the right people , i just dont have the time...
Ask me anything.

Interesting Ad I found on a toy/action figure magazine this month.  Aoshima is releasing the Dropship and the APC both in diecast scheduled to ship this June.  The APC is advertised to be 5 inches long.  And from the picture the APC fits into the dropship as well.  Though it's not the model kit, I am still very much looking forward to it.

These have been out since 2004 here in Japan:

Perhaps the add is for an overseas release.

These metal models are indeed quite nice, but all the examples I inspected suffered from large, toy-like gaps where parts screwed together. A bit disappointing. Expensive, too!

Damn, wish I'd spotted this earlier. There was a guy at WF selling them bagged for $20. You might ask around the SSM boards, some kind soul might be willing to part with one.
