My new project - the Porreta spacefighter
Posted by edklingon on Saturday, May 13, 2006 9:03 AM

Hi!

I started a new kitbashing project, using a F-4 Phantom as basis, and parts of Tomcat and Tornado jetfighters to make a 'spacefighter'. Take a look:

This is the overall idea - I cut the Phantom's rear section, and use the wings in reverse. In the top, I will place some kind of engine:

Another view, with parts of the Tomcat intakes and Tornado rear section:

The superior engine, a kind of 'shot-jump' generator, made with the Phantom's fuel tank:

The frontal air intake, made wiht the Phantom's noosecone and Tomcat's wheel:

Welcome to FSM!

You're doing a fine job kitbashing a spacefighter! I'm sure it'll look great once you get it all together and painted.

The only problem I have with it (and all kitbashed builds such as this) is that I'm just too familiar with the aircraft used in the build...the Phantom, Tomcat, and Tornado, in this case...so when I look at the build, that's all can I see! Familiar parts of familiar aircraft rearranged in unfamiliar ways.

But again, once you get it all together and painted up, with the familiar parts artfully blended together in unfamiliar ways, I'm sure it'll look great!

Looking forward to following the progress on this one!

Cool idea and great start. I like the use of aircraft in build ups like this.

Hi people, thanks to all for the commentaries. All the kits involved in this mess are 1/72 from Revell. I really love the Phantom, and this is one of the best fighters to modify into another thing. (please, forgive my baaaaad english).

Let's go to the pics:

With parts from a Phantom, a Tomcat, and a Tornado, it should be very fast.  We're looking forward to seeing it done.
