AtSt conversion into a battlemech

Just the standard geek stuff, tech readouts from the games, etc.  I want this one to represent the medium mech that worked so well for me in the game, with an autocannon and two extended range lasers, with two swarm missile racks on the shoulders...probably not true to specs, but it did well for me! (except for the  constant overheating problem)

  Hoping to cast the mold tonight, then it is on to the surgery for the legs.

When I played years ago(briefly) the mech that always survived to slug it out in the end was the Behemoth. I used that with a Tarantula and a Rifleman quite nicely. Scratching a mech though would have to be way down on my list, but wouldn't mind giving it a try.

  A Gunslinger, a 40ton of my own creation on paper, that worked out great.  Do you have any pics of your Madcat? Would love to see those...about two years ago, I went to the bother of having 1/35th scale plans made for a Timberwolf/Madcat, but realized I wasn't skilled enough to carry off the project at the time...and now I'm too busy! Maybe next year...I do wish the commercially available kits weren't so bloody expensive.

Whoo, boy. Talk about putty, sand, repeat...this kit is for the birds.  Thinned down the massive "head" with two cuts on a bandsaw, arranged the central motor system...now it's back to the PSR system for a while!

Just about finished with the masters for the missile launchers and the canopy...time to cast some RTV!

Four hours spent building a master for the canopy:                                                                 160.00

Two hours spent polishing the master, attaching railings, and setting up the vacuum former:      80.00

Two hours spent wondering why it isn't working, adjusting the settings, refinishing the master:  80.00

Realizing that the vacuum was set on "blow" instead of "vacuum":                                            Priceless

          arrrrgggh.

o.k.  bugs worked out (yeah, put the hose in the right outlet), and cast the first test canopy...

missile launcher in rtv (second layer), arms are on, flir turret on...guess it would be perfect camo for a red planet in the primer !

Hey, now this guy is really coming together!  Have been watching and waiting and here comes the pay-off!

Thanks for the show-to-date, squid!  Oh, and by the way, you play "Dark Corners of the Earth" on the X-Box?  Been frustrating and funning through that game...  We seem to have come to a hang-up point where it won't go further.
