Polar light problems
Posted by Darr on Sunday, June 4, 2006 12:42 PM

Hello Fellas

I just wanted to pass this along. I have heard from my distributor for my shop. It looks like Playing Mantis the company that owns Polar lights was purchased by ERTL's parent comapany. My distributor isn't sure what this may mean for Polar Lights Model line. Especialy their Star Trek and other Sci-Fi and Movie kits. The rumor is that they will suspend production for a while. So until an offical announcement is made you may want to stock up on your favorite kits in case they may start disapearing. From my experiance in this happening, licencing for product lines end up being lost when companies change hands. When I know more I'll pass it along.

Thanks for the sincere heads-up, but this is actually pretty old news, from at least two years ago (May 2004):

Since you appear to be in a position to "know more," however, please do keep us informed of any new developments.

It would certainly be a shame if that was all she wrote for PM...they were on such a roll!
