Thank you,

The only thing I can think of that really gave me problems on that kit was joining the engine nacelles to the pylons.  I've heard it's almost better if you attach the warp engine half to the pylon first, then finish assembling the engine nacelle.  I did my engine nacelle first, then tried to snap it onto that little tab on the pylon, but broke the tab.  Ended up having to epoxy it.    Other than that the kit was gravy.

Thanks very much for the replies and info.  I posted the same question on Starship Modeler forum and the engine nacelle issue was one of the biggest thing mentioned there.

Thank You!

First an foremost... GET RID OF THE EXTRA PARTS.  Decide which version you plan on building and put those extra parts away (refer to the instructions to figure out which ones you need).  I wish I had and instead I wound up having... issues.

Cut off all of those pins used to snap this kit together on the causer section, nacelles and engineering section.  They just get in the way.

I recommend using Testor's Model Master Flat Camouflage Gray and mixing it with flat or gloss white (you figure out how much you want to use as I wasn't paying attention when I did it, I just added white until it looked good) as your base color.

DO NOT use the paint scheme recommended in the instructions.  It's retarded.  Look up pictures of the screen model online.

Like the man said, cut the ends of the "V" (the nacelle pylons) as the nacelles fit cock-eyed when those things are on.  You will need lots of putty to fill those gaps.

I would recommend cutting that part on the neck that connects to the saucer section right off and just use Zap to connect the two sections together.

Use lots off putty everywhere on this thing.

This model was my first foray back into modeling after a  4 year absence.  Needless to say, I made a lot of rookie mistakes that were avoidable.

I think its because of all the years playing with AMT kits, that cutting off the pins becomes a second nature form of thinking.. he he he.. But you layed it out well there Shawn.. An awfull lot of putty!.. Seems to be the way on most models sadly!

I just stumbled upon this & I've got the same kit in my stash. I've looked over the sprues many a time & I'm still undecided on which version to doShock [:O] Yet, that is sound advice on setting the unused pieces aside as they'd just make things more confusing. Thanks for posting on what nneeds to be done here with this kit as I know I found the info quite helpfulThumbs Up [tup]
