German X-Wing ...
Posted by Hoser on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 1:31 PM
Pixilators post in Aircraft about non-traditional color schemes prompted me to finish something I started a couple of years ago. This is the 1:48 (?) Estes X-Wing done in German splinter camo - thought I would post here as well for you Star Wars fans.

Thanks, J-Hulk. Don't know if it will fly yet. I left off the lower wings to make painting easier, and glued them on last night.

Kind of afraid to try it - what if The Force doesn't appreciate the scheme and it does a 180 and augers into the ground at 100 MPH? Big Smile [:D]

The Furer would be pleased and proud. Great job on a truly inventive paint job! Just remember to offer food packets to Yoda before flight testing.

Since the Empire had a sort of "Nazi" look to it, I think a TIE fighter would look better with German markings and the X-Wing with some type of Allied markings.

How about an AT-AT or AT-ST in the German "ambush" scheme?

You said it Rob, there are many similarities in The SW flicks to "our" reality. Lucas stated that himself. The Empire (Nazi Germany) Rebel Alliance (Allies) The Jedi Order ( some sort of ancient Asian warrior monk reference there), Jabbas clan ( the cartel or Pirates), the Senate (The UN) , Tattoine in general( the Middle East) . The Ewoks (Indians) Did I leave anyone out? I think it would be cool to see an At-At painted up like a King Tiger, or how bout a Speeder Bike with side car and an MG-42 mounted on it? I think theres a whole new idea for modelers there! good idea Hoser!

Ohhh Ohhh Saw the response to Rob..... Where's my plastic sheet? Where's my bits box?
What a great idea for an online contest! Bash up some SW kits to look as if they were Nazi or the like. Kind of what would the world look like after the 1000 years of the Riche. Takes Luft 46 to a whole new degree.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. It's not my best work, and if you look close you'll notice the decals are off-register. Since model rockets tend to get banged up a bit, I wasn't trying for a contest quality finish, but I had fun doing it.
Re: alternative schemes for SW - I remember a few years ago in FSM, someone modified and painted a speeder bike as a racer, with a Ferrari color scheme and markings. Way Cool!!
