THe A-wing, B-wing, tydirium shuttle, Y-wing are as a whole little gems and will fall together. the rest are ok but not big on accuracy.

Try Ebay.

Regards,

Terry.

If you can find one of the Etrl Tie Fighter dual kits (two to the box, with a somewhat ok base of the death star surface). Those are very nice kits. Go together farily easily, and are nicely detailed.

One of the better Ertl Star Wars kits.

For a 10 year old, they're fine.  It's enough to get him interested in modeling and teach him the process.  Once he gets thru a few, then he can move up to the FineMolds SW kits.  THOSE are engineered well.

I am currently working on the original snowspeeder and it is going together with out any fitting problems what so ever. It would be a perfect kit to start with.

My daughter did the Darth Vader Tie fighter when she was about 12 with no trouble. Right now I'm playing with the Jedi Star Fighter and it seems to be a very nice kit with good fit and basically easy assembly.

I just recently did the ERTL Tie Interceptor, good kit, minor fit problems. The small X-wing was fun and fairly straight forward. The AT-AT is a pain putting all the panels together to get them to line up. The Jedi Starfighter kit is a good kit. as mentioned the snow speeder is fairly simple but the cockpit detail stinks. I started the Slave-1  and it is challengeing to get all the panels to stay in place to get the wing vanes on.

My 8 year old recently built the small X-Wing with little problem.

Have made a few of them in my time. From memory:

The X Wings working S Foils might cause him some problems.

I put Darth Vader's TIE Fighter together at a similar age myself without any problems.

The Snowspeeder went together fairly easily, but the cockpit could have been better.

The AT AT went together easily. Had a similar motive when I gave one to my friends Step Son when he was a similar age & he put it together with no problems. He was a Star Wars nut too at the time..

The Star Destroyer gave me some trouble when I put it together with gaps between the hull sections.

Hi guys. New to the site and was wondering if any of the older Star Wars kits are good OOTB builds for a 10 year old?

My nephew is a big Star Wars fan and I'd like to get him into models (something other than video games).

Cheers, SJD
