That looks awesome! I watched the progress of this build with the hopes of buying the kit when it was released, But with a $600 price tag, it will be a looooong looooong time before I get one.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

Actually the Enterprise E is about half the size of the Enterprise D and carries about half the people. While the E is longer, it is half as wide and has half has many decks as the galaxy class Enterprise D.

That's interesting to know. Where did you discover that info?

You know.. There is a lot of talk from alot of people about how they are going to do this, and going to do that.. And in all honesty, nothing ever comes about...

As for this project, I have been watching it since REL first posted it, and I must say that he is one guy that stuck to what he wanted to do, and look at the amazing result!

I see alot of amazing builds in different forms and subjects.. But this is made from the hard work of one man, and so for me, it takes the prize as the no1 build that I have ever seen... !!

I like to think of myself as a decent builder.. But man, I could never see myself doing a project like that through to the end.. That takes skill, and patience..

Chris

Hey Hippy,

Well in First Contact it is stated by captain picard that the ship has 24 decks and states the length of the ship as well. He says it has 24 decks and I forget what he said the length was but it is longer then the enterprise D. Of course in other movies we get different deck numbers but they never go higher then 28 or so.

We also have canon drawings of the ships in mnay sources around the internet....Enterprise E is about half the overall size of the D when you take the canon drawings by the designers and overlay them.

Take the AMT Enterprise D kit, the AMT Enterprise E kit, and the AMT Voyager kit....

The Enterprise E saucer section fits inside the the phaser bank on the top of the Enterprsie D saucer. Yes the D is a lot bigger!!!!The voyager saucer fits inside the phaser banks on top of the Enterprise E saucer.

I think that the "highest" the number of decks on the E-E went was to deck 26 in "NEM" *shudder*, tho that fight between Riker and the Nosferatu-lookin' Reman-dude looked like there were a lot more than 26 decks underneath them.

Regardless, Richard has done a great job here w/the model he scratchbuilt.  I find myself once again lamenting not being able to purchase the kit as I have neither storage nor display space for it, nor am I likely to in the foreseeable future, unfortunately....

Dont worry this will be floating around whatever auction will exist 10 years from now just as the Lunar Models Excelsior makes its rounds on ebay and various websites from time to time.

There is only going to be a small percentage of people that buy this that will actually build it.

Yeah, that's true.  'Course, I should just bite the bullet for storage excuses, buy it and keept it packed up.  Worst case scenario, sell it on eBay at a later date/time.
