Enterprise rarely ever "planeted", In warp, she was not "in" real space. Under impulse engines, and in orbit, she would have collected dust, and particle damage. The Falcon spent considerable time "in atmosphere, and on the ground. Weathering would be very appropriate here. Finally, yes, there is dust and crap in outer space, and at sublight speeds, it can get fairly dense at times. (Ep 3 "A New Hope", the falcon enters space where Alderon had been.....she took several "hits" from planetary debris) In ST6 "The Undiscovered Country", reference was made to the Bird of Prey"s "exhaust gasses", that while cloaked, she still emitted exhaust gasses, and those could be tracked. Those gasses could also cause discoloration in areas where they contacted the ship's structure. When she was landed on Vulcan, the bird of prey's retro engines kicked up significant amounts of dust.

Not to mention the entry into an atmosphere, ever had a close look at a real space shuttle (well I didn't either but I saw an awsome documentary on Discovery Channel), it really looks weathered.

Very nice falcon you've got there. One comment though, if I may, somehowe the engine doesn't really look convincing in a "one-tone" blue.

Funny thing my son just came to me while cleaning out his closet with a Millenium Falcon from a Christmas a long time ago. He is probably missing a couple parts but the bad thing is he is missing the instructions. I was wondering if yours is the same kit. His is a MPC/Ertl kit.

Zip

Zip let me know an email address and I will scan my copy of the instructions for the AMT/ERTL Falcon. I have one in the closet.

I built the Falcon and then set it aflame 'cause I didn't have a place to store it.  What fun!!

I picked up this kit a few weeks ago and finally sat down last night to put it together -- only to find I had lost the instructions!!

Can anyone help me out with a scan of the instruction book, or a link to a file I can download?

Much thanks!

Thanks everybody for the kind words, Sorry zipmeister the kit is a complete new tool from Revell in Germany, as far as I know it will not be for general sale in the US but Starshipmodeller.com will be importing them, While J-Hulk is right in his assesment of the thickness of parts I want to emphasise that its a snap kit and only has something like47 parts and is desinged to be assembled by the younger modeller as well.

Paint wise Games workshop cheap and plentiful as I pass the shop on thte way home in the evenings.

Thanks Again,

Regards,

 Terry.

Nice job all the way around. What technique do you use for your weathering? Whatever it is it's working :)

Zip

The Revell kit is all-new, and totally unrelated to the old MPC/Ertl kit. They do seem to share the same side thickness problem, however! That's one thick Falcon!

And that is one fine job you've done on your Falcon, Terry! Great paint and weathering.
