AMT/ERTL Falcon - how much to cut sidewalls?
Posted by Dermo on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 4:04 PM

As I can't yet afford the Finemolds Falcon, does anyone have any recommendations on how much to cut down the sidewalls on the AMT/ERTL Falcon? Ok, I know I'm a dreamer hoping to turn this kit into something good but I have to give it a try!

Thanks and appreciate your advice

In an old issue of the defunct Sci-Fi and Fantasy Models magazine there was an article from someone who did this. I cannot get my copy out right now but my memory wants to say that the author cut the sides down by almost half.  Please be aware that when you cut the sides down you now have to rebuild the walkway tube that ends at the cockpit.

Good Luck,

Max Bryant

I'll try and dig them out and check the height.

If you have the funds available, there are 2 kit conversion solutions to this (sidewalls) and a few other inaccuracy problems.

The first can be found here:

the other here:

and click on the detail kits lnik on left/top.

hope this helps.

Depending on where you are in Ireland, in Dublin Marks Models on Hawkings street has the new Revell Falcon and Forbidden planet on the Quays also has it, about   €40 yo,yo's.

Yeah and its still raining in Dublin.

Regards,

Terry.

If you want to trim them yourself, they need to be shortened by about 1/8" (4mm).
