I was there also. Congrats on the silver, very nice model. I was especially impressed with the blockade runner.

Very nice job and great news about the award.  It looks like you deserved it from the pic you posted.

I've always wondered about paper models myself.   I can see getting the right thickness and curves cound be a chalenge as well as small details, as for finishing some come pre-printed if I recall.

Way to go!!  She's beautiful.  If you don't mind me asking-What won gold? It had to be some kind of competition for you to only get silver.

They awarded 2 Gold Medals and they both went to paper models.  I think one was a model of Voyager, can't think of which one.....  While they were very nice, well constructed and flawless, I always wondered what if any finishing they had and what the challenges were to them.

Once again, Congratulation on the award. That is strange that the Blockade Runner didn't place.

This past weekend our IPMS local chapter held their annual convention called Nordic-Con.  We made it a family event by talking my Dad, brother, my son Chris and his soon to be brother in law.  Chris entered a couple of really nice pieces he built, his Rebel Blockade Runner and Alien Attacker.  Unfortunately he didn't win anything, a couple of paper models took home the Gold.

I was very fortunate, I entered my Polar Lights 1/1000 scale NX-01 with LED's and took SILVER!  I was pretty stoked since this is my first award.

Enjoy!

I was there over the weekend and took a shot of the NX-01.  Good looking kit and really deserving of the award.  Congrats.  It's a shame about the Blockade Runner, that was a pretty sweet looking build.
