Enteprise D....DONE (now with flashing lights)
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 5:23 AM
Its finally done....the longest build of my life....way too long to tell. Not because it was a hard build....it just took a while....you know how is goes. I decided to play around with the white led's and mounted them under the ship.

Absolutely amazing job, the lighting is well done. I assume that's EL sheeting under the hull for windows etc?

Is this a SB or a kit? I would very much like to do a 1701-D model for my wife, as she happens to be a huge TNG fan, and she refuses to condone me building the Polar Lights 1701-A refit kit :)

Hey there,
Its all lighted by LED's. if you arrange the LED's right you can get a good effect for the windows. Its the AMT/ERTL kit and I used a bunch of after market parts as well.

joey.. Great work mate.. I just recieved my ERTL D and have decided that instead of doing the AMT Reliant as my next project, I want to do the E-D.. I wont be lighting mine though, but I am very much interested in getting the paint right..

I like yours alot, and I am curious as to the colours you used...

Thanks for the kind words. Its great to post work and not have people nit pick at it.

The colors for the Enterprise are pretty straight forward

Base Coat: Camo Grey
Aztek: Flat Gull Grey

Mix a little bit of white in with each to coat as you airbrush!!

If you have any more questions I would be glad to help.

Thanks mate, I will see how I go...

I never really liked this ship, but just lately I had the opportunity to get my hands on one, and I was actually impressed by the size of it... I spent most of today putting it together and getting it ready for paint.. And I have had some fun with it.. Simple kit, but fun.. And it is starting to grow on me.. I think if you get the paint done right, then you are on the right track.. Thats why I love yours so much, it looks great!..
