painting them on? mmm maybe with templates? could be done.. ive seen so many amazing AB jobs, it wouldnt suprise me..

about the color: ive read somewhere that you can simply AB some paint over decals very lightly to change their colors..might make a nice experiment?

You're not wrong there.. I couldnt see how you could paint them on.. I think even the best modelers would pass that one up!.. So yeah, the decals are sweet, and give the Shuttle a little bit of realism.. I guess my only gripe about them, is that they are a little too grey for my liking, and should be alot darker.. Other than that, they really give the model some depth and scale..

Capt.. I have to say that I am seriously not trying to come across as a grump.. But I really am tired of what has happened lately.. And for that reason I have become very wary with people of late.. Its a shame, but I guess that's the annonomous world called the internet!..

So, I am happy to do anything to keep the focus off certain people, and keep it in the spirit of these boards..

So here are a few pics of where I left off from my Shuttle project.. I am yet to build the Base and the Booster & Rocket set...But the Orbiter is done...

It is called Endevour, becaue that was the ship that Capt Cook discovered Australia.. I might need to be corrected, but I think it now lies off the coast of Boston on the sea bed? Happy to be corrected on this one!

Cheers, Chris

Well in all honesty Capt.. It was dropped.. And Ed got us back on subject..

It's when people keep saying please drop it, and ad their opinions to it. Is why it keeps going....

Anyways, lets leave it there please..

hey chris!

nope, havent been working on the f15 lately.. kinda lost intrest.. dont have to tell you that happens somethimes eh? ;-P

this is what ive been working on lately:

a DS9 almost ready for paint hehe.. im kind of in doubt wether ill do  this one by hand or by
AB...

got some more pics in the thread i started about the DS9. have a look if youre intrested. had some problems with the pylons, but things worked out just fine :)

hey, you got some pics of youre shuttle? cant wait to see it!

[offtopic]

chris, griff, i dont wanna interfere anything, but, can't you please both just DROP IT?!?..

ive read all youre nice little discussions in several threads, and i dont know what ot who started it, but its getting a bit annoying really.. IMHO, youre both great guys, and even better moddelers, im not asking you to become friends, but cant you at least ignore eachother? you both are messing up 2 great boards..

like i said, i dont wanna get mixed up in all of this, but please leave the discussion out of model threads.

just my 2 cents, shoot me if you dont agree ;-D

thanks.

The X-Wing does look sharp & I like the way you did up the display base. That' kewlApprove [^]

I try to get on here when I can & usually just check "My Forums" when I check my email. Too many things going on right now & I am working on my PT Boat for the G/B so, there ya have it.

Now this guy you're getting the kits from, id he making them himself? If so, that explains the delay...

Hi Ed.. I definately know the story with the daily life crud!

Thanks about the Y-Wing.. Although the X-Wing worked out to be alot more fun!

As for the other kits, no sign as yet, and it doesnt seem like he is in much of a hurry...

Good to see you on..

False accusations?

Dude, if you make your bed, you gotta lie in it?  Maybe I should call you the "Ostrich". Now you want to stick your head in the sand and pretend that you didn't do anything at all!

You are simply priceless mate!

Anyway, you are right. Bringing my grievences over here was kinda silly, and I have already sent my appologies to the admin... Will be the last I will say on it..

Infact I would like to ask if the moderators could clean this post up and put it back on to the subject..

Dang, how many times are you going to change the text above?  Had to make sure I quoted the below before you change that, too....

I find it highly ironic that you're making a mandate that I not come here and "bring my crap with me" and go on about politics. I wouldn't have even responded in this thread if *you* brought *my* name up making some false accusations about happenings at Hobby Talk and making this "political".

Now, I'm done responding to you in this thread. I won't allow the likes of you - who's NOT a moderator at these forums - to run me off and will continue on here as I like.

Out Here....

Griff, I had one run in with the guy, and left it at that. I then called him by his real name when he was using a different alias?  Please explain to me, the trouble that I made. and feel free to show evidence of it?

The fact that the said person, and a moderator of the same site were in the chat room talking up ways to attack me on Thomas' site seem to fall under the guidlines of the rules. Yet you are still yet to show me evidence of my "so called" behavior, other than what I had just mentioned????

ps: This is how funny you are.. You have now claimed that I signed back up under a new alias in a (as you put it) sneaky way. Yet when I re-signed up the first time, I made my user name "chris_in_japan1" and then the second time "Samurai_Chris"....

Seriously Griff, if I wanted to hide my identity and sneakily sign back up to the boards. Then I dare say that unlike Superman, I am sure that I would choose a better way to hide my identity than just a pair of glasses.. Considering my name on every board I visit is "chris_in_japan". I fail to see how my intentions to re-sign up would be anything other than to make it clear who I am?

It just makes your comments seem almost laughable.. And the sad thing is, you feel you need to continue on that path?.. Just be honest, and a man about it, and admit you banned me in the heat of the momment, and because you didnt like me!!.. That way, we can go back to business as usual, and then we dont have to annoy each other anymore.. I only think that is fair?

As for my email to you.. Nowhere does it mention any intention on my behalf of not following any rules. It does infact state, what I think of you.. Again mate, grabbing at straws!

Seriously man?

Anyways, we are never going to agree, so no point going on about it. And I wouldnt be surprised if this thread gets locked because of it.. Maybe a good thing....

Now Griff, if you dont mind, please go back to your little site and be the "moderator" and dont come over here and bring your crap with you.. This place still is a good place for people to visit, without having to worry about politics....

To the guys from Hobby Talk.. If you are accessing this build from the link I placed over there. He has taken it upon himself to make the issue more than personal by banning me, and I would just like to say that reagrdless of that fact, you all have a great little site over there, and that it is a shame, that alot of great talented members have been forced out because of the changes in the moderation structure. (Lloyd Collins excepted)

Let's set the record straight, shall we?

You were first BANNED by me several months ago for what was, for me, the final violation of TOS at Hobby Talk when making a serious of attacks on another member, known there as tyboy4umodels.  You had been warned by other Moderators publicly to back off prior to that, as well.  I BANNED you a second time when you showed up again w/o having asked the HT owner - Hank Hagquist, the guy who owns the "super forum" that is Hobby Talk  - to return to the forums.  Did you not get the message the first time?  This time around, you showed up again, but under a different name.  I discovered it - you obviously weren't really hiding that hard - and sent you an email telling you that I knew you were there again after being previously BANNED twice - yet I was more than willing to not push the issue with Hank provided you played well with others.  That's all I said.

The email I got in response was, well...  to say the least quite... amazing... in it's vitriol.  This email indicated to me that you weren't likely going to follow the TOS.  Hank has indicated in a number of posts at HT, as well as very clearly stated in the TOS, that he won't tolerate the sort of disruptive posts that you had initiated specifically against the guy known here as Admiral Grasshopper.  Since you don't seem to understand that there are rules of not only conduct, but civility, in a moderated forum, I felt it necessary to call for your BAN - once again.  I, however, am not the one who actually prosecuted said BAN against  you.

I'd also like to add that I have no idea what you're on about w/the allegation trying to make out that there have been a lot of folks BANNED at Hobby Talk and insinuating that it was either at my hand or my behest.  That simply isn't the case.

EDIT: I find it interesting that you've chosen to take the above quoted text out of your post, too.  I think it shows pretty clearly just WHO it is that has taken things personally in light of the fact that you have to drag stuff like this out publicly.

Thanks guys..

Bud.. The rods are snuggly fitted into the base, and glued. As for the ships, they again have been snuggly fit to size, and may be glued into position once it is completely finished...

Capt.. Long time no see!!!.. Thanks for the comments.. As for my space shuttle. The actuall orbitor is finished, but just need to complete the booster and rockets.. Another kit that has been put away for another time.. How did you get on with that F-15 you were building?

Looks Good Chris..............

But to did you get the models to stay on the rods ? Glue or a Bolt in the model that screws into the rod ?

And the same thing on the base.

Whatever you did they look Sweet

Ok, she is done!..

For those just joining us.. This is a display that I wanted to build displaying the Y-Wing, and X-Wing together... I havnt seen these two favourite ships built into the same display together, so wanted to do it myself..

The Y-Wing is a 1/48 Full Resin kit from a maker here in Japan, and the X-Wing is the 1/48 AMT kit.. Both displayed on aluminium rods on a nice wooden base.. When painting these ships, I wanted them to have a subtle paint work and didnt want to make them dirty at all.. Some people like their ships dirty, but I decided to keep these guys clean...

Lastly, I plan on putting the schematics of each ship on the base, but will do that later..

Chris,

Check out Todd's blog here. He recently documented the process for his blog. Its a simple piece, and by garage kit standards, was inexpensive to produce, but it gives an idea of the process.
