hey guys, thanks for your replies!

yup, the pylons look alike, but there pretty easy to keep appart: the lower ones have holes in them for the stand, the upper ones, well, dont. hehe..

i glued in the upper ones, and, i must say its really not that bad after all, no shimming was required. After i glued in the pylons, there were small gaps; what i did was, apply some presure on them with clamps, and applied some glue in the remaining gaps, after both parts got soft again due to the glue, the clamps forced the pylons to sink in place. doesn't look too bad really..

nuf said, here's some WIP pics..

thanks for looking..

once i have the lower pylons in place i'll post some more pics..

and then we can finally start the never ending discussion on DS9's colors.. ;D

I've got the book Starships of the Final Frontier.  I'll look it up for you. It saying shimming is required on all the pylons.  The pylons themselves basically get sanded til the detail is gone and then you're forced to replace all the detail.  There is a word of caution on the pylons.  The upper and lower look alike but the fit very specifically requires them to line up as they are meant to be.

Sorry wish icould help I used my DS-9 for parts. I used my pylons as servicing arms for a runabout that was supposed to be in a repair bay. Plus I wanted the fibre optics out of it. Still I thought it was a great show esp during the last couple of seasons...

hey all,

I'm currently working on ERTL's deep space nine model, but the pylons dont seem to fit to the outer ring properly.

Does any of you have experience with this kit? if so, how did you solve this?

many thanks!!
