Since you brought it up, what are your toughts?  Are we limited to a ship design? A scale?  An Era?  UFP, Klingon, Romulan or other?  Are you wanting canon only?  What's the time limit you have in mind?

If there's no limitations on scale, I might be able to pull something out as I just received a package from Wife with some 1/2500 scale stuff.

'Course, I don't have any paint.... Sad [:(]

mmm lets say federation only, any scale, any era, no time limit? course this is just a poll, so your ideas are appreciated!

maybe do something crazy, like naming the all the ships to a certain theme (example, dutch navy or maybe give tribute to st's key actors, like the USS mulgrew, ot the USS steward)?

I never usually like group builds, because either I build too quick, or I am not building anything that has to do with the group build at the time. But I do like the idea of this..

I have just started building the ERTL Enterprise-D, and I am awaiting my 22" TOS Enterprise, as I have always wanted to build an Enterprise with the aztec and panelling like we see on the Defiant in the Season 4 Enterprise Episodes "A mirror darkly Pt 1& 2"

Can I put myself down for both?

Actors or maybe characters from the various incarnations of Trek?  I kinda like the idea of leaving the actual design and/or name open. I'd recommend a definite time limit, tho it can be pretty liberal.  Give it maybe six months?

Far as I'm concerned, tho, you suggested it, so you should be the one to make the final determination. Smile [:)]

You'd think, huh?  Smile [:)]

I still need to inventory the box of stuff that Wife sent me, but I'm fairly sure I've got at least one PNT Models Avenger and a Cozmo Heavy Industries TOS Federation-class dreadnought.  Not sure of decals, tho...  I've also brought the pieces/parts I was working on for a kit master for VA Miniatures and the study model I'd built two years ago that I'm basing it off of.  I can at least have one or two of those completed before I get back home in February and then paint & decal them while I'm on my R&R, methinks.

And it might even happen just like that. Big Smile [:D]

Thanks Capt..

Here are a few update pics 4 days on...All the paint is down except for the under side.. That will  be done next.. I just wanted to see how the saucer would look with the lifeboats..

I have used images from the Studio model on the IDIC page for reference.. I found that the lifeboats on the studio model kinda blend in with the colour of the model, so I decided to make mine stand out a little bit more for effect..

I didnt buy the decal set for the life boats, so I had to mask them up, cut them out, and paint them with the airbrush.. Then I decided to highlight them in one section to get a sence of scale..  I have added a few windows to see how it all looks, but will add white windows later on..

Sure. One more iron in the fire can't hurt. I'm insanely rabid about TOS NCC-1701 USS Enterprise. My oldest surviving model is a twenty-two year old NCC-1701. Let's see... I'm in the Secret Santa WWII aircraft group build, I'm heading out the door to see about a 1/48 scale B-25 in a minute, I've got a USS Arizona, an X-15, a Huey Hog, an Estes Saturn V, and three other rockets in various stages of work going on right now, so one more project ought to keep me busy through winter. Count me in. I'd LOVE an excuse to build up a really nice TOS Enterprise.

Well, I do a little here, and a little there.. If I sit down to watch the news, I put the model on my lap and do masking, or cutting.. It may seem quick, but I just do things when I have time, and it seems to get done.. As for being done before the build starts, then that is ok, my 22" TOS Enterprise arrived yesterday, so that will be next on the list.. This one will be given the special treatment.. Then I still have my Reliant to do, but this E-D will take a little while longer yet!

Ed.. plenty of kits to choose from there mate. You should do an NX TOS crossover!!..  I would love to see your progress on your little B and C... I did the whole set about a year ago, and would be happy to show you and help you along if you need it!

I will definately keep a progress report going as I continue with the D. Thanks about the lifeboats.. After doing all the aztec on this ship, I wasnt looking forward to the lifeboats. But happy with the way the few that I did turned out. So it has given me a second wind!..

I'm getting back in the swing of things slowly & will get back on the B & C soon. I need to get a camera or, at least film for my polariod so I can at least post some pics. I could use a little help on the little guys. Shoot me an emailCool [8D]
Yep, you did a good job on them lifeboats.  I'd say go ahead & do the rest of themTongue [:P]

OK, an NX-TOS cross-over...  either two ways I can see where you're going... A TOS in NX aztec or, the NX in the TOS grey/white. Correct?

In all honesty mate.. I am yet to see a very convincing cross over... I guess maybe something that has the silver hull plating in some areas of the ship, and the newer white panels in the more exposed areas... Just an idea..

As for your little 1/2500 kits.. I would suggest a large desk magnifying glass to pop under your chin.. Only thinking that cause you are an old fella!!...Big Smile [:D]

Some parts were done by airbrush, But because I assembled the ship first. Some places had to be done by hand..

UPDATE: Phaser strips and escape pods are done...

Saucer and secondary hull are all but complete.. I now have to do the deflector dish and then will begin with the decals.. The warp engines are being done seperately, and so I am still working on those aswell...

Thanks guys...

Here is another update, and the more I do on the this, the more I know I have a long way to go..

Anyways, I finished doing the aztec on the whole ship, and have done alot of detail work with windows and so forth. But I decided that I wanted to put it on a base to get an idea as to how she will turn out.. I will say that I placed the warp engines on it, but they have not been azteced or detailed so they look pretty plain at the momment..

I have also done the deflector.. I originally did it blue with red, but it looked a little strange, so I decided on a totally blue dish...

Some of the decalling for the saucer has been done, but I still have a few that have to go on, so it isnt finished either.

I didnt light this kit, but I wanted to try and make the deflector look like it was lit to give it some life.. It looks like I splashed paint all over it, but dont worry, its just the flash from the camera.

Next to my 1/32 WW II Australian Mustang.

Alot of detail has gone into the saucer, but I still have to detail the main shuttle hanger door, aswell as the smaller 2 doors on the back of the neck.

Side shot on the base that will be used to mount it on..

chris, you sure you have a job? jeez, where DO you find the time? and how sweet she is turning out!! nice.. doesn't look you got that long a way to go as you posted....

i got inspired by your E-D, and remembered i still got a small E-D from a 3-enterprises in flight display box, which i started... its way smaller than yours, so i doubt i can get as much detail in it as yours has..

will post pics soon, where im at is, i glued the model together, except for the nacelles, and gave it 2 layers of primer. i still need paint for my DS9, so gotta make a mental note to bring paint for the 1701 as well. talking bout it, what colors do you guys advice on both models?

i want the enterprise to be in orig colors, as for the ds9 piece, i want it in original cardassian tan.. any advice?

also, for the E-D, whats the easiest way to aztec it? dont think there are any templates for this scale..

any advice would be great..

thanks.

Capt.. I work from home now, so it allows me to work on stuff when I have a little free time here and there.. Also like I said earlier, if I am sitting watching the news or something, I always have the model on my lap doing something.

As for the little D, I did that one about a years ago as with all the Enterprises, and looking back at it compared to this bigger one, it will definately have to be re-done at some stage.. But after doing this one, I really cant see that happening for a long time..

As for colours, I dont go with the Duck egg theories, and I try to make my models look like they do on screen.. So in saying that, I went with a base coat of Tamiya USAF Light Grey, and to give the aztec life, I did different sections in Tamiya Sky Grey, Neutral Grey, and a home brew mix of Sky Grey and blue..

After the aztec was down, I then gave a light spray of the Tamiya USAF Light Grey over the top, to allow the aztec to blend in and not be so contrasting... I think I have got it pretty well right for now..

All that is left is the warp engines, and finishing with the decals.. I also have to finish the escape pods and windows on the lower saucer, and I have been considering doing some windows in white to give it the lit look.. Will have to see how that goes...

As for aztecing the little one, then you will need to find something online that you can print out.. I guess  measuring it up, and then printing it down to scale.. I wouldnt suggest hand painting on the little one as I dont think it would look very good.. So my only suggestion is asking Arthur over at SSM if he has any for the small one.. Thats where I got the masks for this one..

Also, I decided to take a pic of what I will be working on next!.. We need to get some more interest in on the Group Build also.. I kinda feel like we are the only ones interested in it?.. And in all honesty, I am sick of even seeing my own work up on the board...

yup, we have to do something about both points there i guess.. doing my best on the pics though..

this weekend i'll go but some paint for the DS9 and the  lil' E-D, so i should have pics for you soon mate!

thanks for the advice on the colours and aztec!!
