Shuttle craft for the Reliant
Posted by Mikeym_us on Saturday, December 23, 2006 11:10 AM
well just checked the Federation models site last night and saw that they finnally got some of the Movie era shuttle craft that are sized to fit in the Miranda Class shuttlebay that I bought a few months back. Well I guess patience does pay off in the end. And I also found some Movie Era Shuttlecraft in 1/350 scale which is a coincidence for me since I ordered the Polar Lights Enterprise refit from Great Models on Monday and it should be in by the 29th hopefully probably even the 27th. I guess enough stalling I have some shuttlecraft to buy. BTW the 1/537 scale shuttle craft go for $10 and the 1/350 go for $15. Oh and does anyone know what color the shuttlebay bulkheads are?

I'm sorry, but I can't answer your question right now about the bulkhead colors.  My suggestion there, tho, is to check out the movies and or locate some screen caps for the movies.  I don't have links here, so sorry again....

I'm curious to know your thoughts on the shuttles when you get them, tho. Smile [:)]

well it will be very interesting but at least I know what color to paint them :P I'm sure Woody has some pic's somewhere since he is a practicing Trekkie.

I wish I had the time to dig thru some stuff, but know you should be able to check Ex Astris Scientia, in the starship section - Constitution gallery for some possible screen caps or CGI renders.  Sorry, but I don't have time to dig up specific stuff.

 HTH!

Merry Christmas!

The best shot of the shuttlebay is in ST:TMP just after Kirk arrives at Enterprise for the first time.  Sorry I can't look it up now but I'm away from home for the holiday and don't have the DVD handy.

Thanks for the heads-up on the shuttles.  That solves the dilemma of open or closed bay for my 1/350.  Maybe I'll post my findings on colors but I doubt there's much official info since the scene I mentioned was mostly a matte painting and I think the studio miniature's bay detail (while Kirk and Scotty were viewing from outside the ship ) was either minimal or bluescreened in.

When I started my refit. I decided to do her with the bay doors shut, and that I would do the shuttle bay as a seperate display.. Well considering all work on the refit stopped about 9 months ago. Just getting the ship built seems like a ways off. Let alone the shuttle bay!.. But I do think the shuttle bay needs a display of her own!
