It's supposed to be for later this year.  You can see one site w/info regarding the Revell-Monogram release news at: Starship Modeler Sci-Fi and Spacecraft Hobby News  - Scroll down to 11/06, directly under "More New Stuff From Trifon Miniatures" and their Joker/Killer Clown pic.

The gist:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA REISSUE! --- UPDATE

Revell/Monogram have announced the reissue of three of the original series Battlestar Galactica models: Colonial Viper, Cylon Raider and Cylon Base Star. Each kit will include newly tooled plastic parts to make them more faithfull to the original filming models.

  • The Viper will have the most extensive reworking, and will be optimized for lighting. It will come with a clear canopy, a completely new cockpit (including clear main CRT display), seated pilot figure with hand comp and sidearm, and a completely re-tooled engine exhaust/rear deck piece. The latter will have correct detailing as well as clear engine inserts to facilitate lighting. The decals have not been finalized, but accurate markings for Galactica's fighters will definitely be covered.
  • The Raider will have plugs or bulkheads to fill all the gaps on the original tool, as well as corrected engine and cannon detail.
  • The Cylon Basestar will have new sprues containing corrected or new details (similiar to, but not based on, existing aftermarket resin sets). It will also include a comprehensive paint guide that accurately reflects the intricate paint scheme on the original filming model.
  • Both the Raider and Viper will have a new clear plastic stand. This will have several lengths of angled and straight rods providing the modeler with an array of poses.

Expected retail price for the fighters is in the $25 range. These kits are slated to start appearing on hobby shop shelves (but not mass-market discount stores like Wal-Mart) in mid-2007. The Big G herself may be reissued in early 2008. (11/06)

  •    If these sell well enough, it's rumored that we might well see TNS BSG ships.

Regardless, there are a number of resin kits out there right now for both TOS & TNS BSG in a variety of scales.  You can find those kits at (in alphabetical order):

I saw repops of the Raider some time ago, and the missile launcher and the ensuing lawsuits from eye injuries had been removed. I believe the launcher holes were covered over with a blanking plate.

bummer. I had a blast with those launchers!

Read on a forum somewhere that they were supposedly going to re-tool the Viper so that it had a proper cockpit this time. As originally released, it was solid plastic with black decals for the glass. Hopefully they will lose the rubber band powered missile launcher from the nose too.

Am looking forward to making it again as I have fond memories of making it as a child.

It would be nice to see someone release something from the new series. It is popular enough & after 3 seasons, you would have thought that someone would have snapped up the rights & released some injection kits by now.

I wish they would concentrate on the current version of the show.

I thought that I read some where that Revel Monogram was going to be re-issuing the Origianl Series Battlestar Galactica Models some time this year.  But, I am now not able to find anything else about it.  Does any one else have some info on this and where I can find out more info about it?
