One thing to remember is that the original show had a much tighter budget than its spinoffs, even adjusting for inflation. I don't think the studio miniature had the additional markings you mentioned, since the cost of adding and removing them would have been hard to cover. The good news is that the areas you mention for the markings were out of view, so no self-proclaimed "expert" could PROVE that they weren't there any better than you could prove that they were.

I'd say go with whichever option you like better. No reasonable person would hold it against you if you used the extra markings.

Don't worry about the unreasonable onesBig Smile [:D]!

Yes, I go to CultTVman pretty much every day. Steve has some great stuff and some really good links. I also go to Starship Modeler, another great Sci-fi site.
We have a member in our club named Gavin Anderson. His specialty is diorama's, factual, sci-fi and humorous. If you would like to check his stuff out, surf over to www.ipmsslc.com and click on his name in the Gallery (shameless plug).

Philp,

I don't know if you have ever been to www.culttvman.com but if you haven't you should check it out. There are lots of great stuff on Sci Fi modeling in general as well as on Star Trek.

Rogue,
Thanks for the links. I checked it out and it is a decent site. Did notice one thing as I looked at a couple of different episodes. The Enterprise changes depending on the shot. Looks like the first season used some canned shots from the 2 pilots. Oh well, so much for realism.

Check out this page.

It clearly shows the higher domed b/c deck. Plus the yellow rectangle is a dead give away for the 2ed pilot version of the TOS-E. As for the other marking I to can find no shots of these markings in the final print of the show. I would speculate that it is an added touch to give the ship some more charater beyond the 2ed pilot version.

Given that the kit was sculpted by Thomas Sasser I would be hard pressed to question the acureatcly fo the kit. But you have to admit the declas are kewl. <grin>

As a intresting side note the same group of pages shows the ISS E from the rear and it has the bulb necel end caps of the series version.

That'd be something, wouldn't it?
An armada of Mirror, Mirror Enterprises!
How about an ISS Intrepid or something?

Help! I just got my Polar Lights Enterprise. It looks like a great kit but I have a question. I want to do something a bit different so I stand out a little from all of the other Enterprise kits that I am sure will show up at the Gathering (Region 10 Regional, end of Sept) so was interested in the ISS Enterprise markings that come with the kit. These are from the episode "Mirror, Mirror" and deal with an alternate universe. The problem is the kit shows to use the 2nd Pilot version of the Enterprise and includes the Terran Empire markings to be placed on top of both warp nacelles, top front of the saucer and bottom of main hull.

I thought the ship was the production version and not sure if any of the Terran Empire markings were on the model. My search of the web has been less than successful. I have only found 2 pictures which give no details but look like the production version, and one set of plans that is definitely the production version with no other markings than the ISS Enterprise on top of the saucer and the other regular markings.

Thanks for any help
