the symbols (depending on which sets of instructions you have, what year, etc) should have an English equivelant called out on the face page. I know thier symbols are unusual, they caught me off guard at first, too.
Usually it will boil down to "Do this step first, then install assembly", or "do this and put inside this" which will look like a larger and smaller circle, one black one white. Follow the flow arrrows, they lead you directly from step to step. Bandai usually starts at one side of the body, rolls around to the other side to finish up, so studying HOW these things go together reallyhelps.
Also if you plan to use the head sensors, put the decal/sticker in place on the "eyes" first before you stuff it all inside the head armor, otherwise it will be hard to get in there.
I much prefer 1/100 scale, bigger parts, oftentimes more detail, but not as "poseable".
