Capture the flag, MaK style
Posted by ponch on Sunday, March 11, 2007 2:41 PM

Hi all,

Inspired by HALO (don't the AFS suits remind you of the Master Chief? Big Smile [:D]), this is my Maschinen Krieger Capture the Flag diorama.  One blue team member is running away with the Red flag, while another one covers his retreat.

I used one MkI and one MkII suits to mix it up a little.  The only modifications I made were the destroyed hand on the second AFS, and some figure details which of course can't be seen inside the helmets Tongue [:P]

Hope you like it.

Very nicely done with good terrrain work. I still have the mkII suit from many years ago when the line was originally released in the US and SquadronMailOrder ran the full page sale ad in FSM magazine , circa 1985. Does the Mk1 suit come with the pilot with 02 mask? My Mkii came with two normal heads, but we sure do have better resin heads out there nowadays!

Thanks for sharing, impressive work!

Thanks Smile [:)]

Both kits come with normal heads (no masks).  I wasn't too impressed with the castings, so I modified them by adding the masks and some other details.  In retrospectice I spent waaay too much time on the heads considering they are pretty much buried under the helmets Sigh [sigh]

I think it may have been well spent, considering that I noticed! :-)

I think it adds something to these closed up kits...others such as the SAFS kits have full helmet options ( I have one from Ebay) for the driver, and unless you have something that you can "drop the top" on, like a PKA, it seems you need some sort of forced air breathing system, or at least something to keep you breathing an air mix that will keep you going in a fight, instead of cooped-up air.

I like the mod, keep it! :-) (and yes the old castings were pretty lame)
