Painting Gundams
Posted by M1 A1 A2 Tanker on Sunday, May 27, 2007 12:25 PM

Hi

   Guys

My son is starting to get into modeling which of course is awesomeThumbs Up [tup] But he wants to build a 1/144 Gundam for his next project and not being much of a sci-fi modeler I have no idea what paints or colors he should use to paint his model. And since the paint guide in the instruction is in Japanese it is really no help. So is there a gundam paint guide with suggested manufacture paints anywhere out there or should he just go with his imagination?

Thanks

Hey

I'm not a sci-fi builder or anything but i think i can make a suggestion.  A couple months back I bought the FSM special book/mag on painting and weathering and int the front it included an add for Gunze Sangyo products and included was a buch of paints and markers specificaly for Gundams.  It seems they specailize in gundam paints, so hope this helps.

I know that its from May but you never know who's looking through the forums and for what, may be that some one who needs the info will find it.  I've found plenty of useful info looking through the old posts, but thats just me :)

He's right, I was looking through today and found this very helpful.  I'm painting my Hi-Zack in non standard colors but I have been wondering how I would find the correct colors for my next kit and now I have the answer.  Thanks for the tip!

Aren't those amazing kits? I love how they do the multi-colored parts on a single sprue, not to mention all the working features. These kits make great out-of-the-box builds for kids or anyone for that matter. They are also good for doing something really different to break modeling-block!

They're much easier to clean up over the old 1/0 cable tubes.  I just kept them on the stick and sanded them all at once.  Then painted them while they were still on the rubber stick too.  20 times easier than the old MG Zaku kits :D

yanno, now that I look at it, it is NOT a Ver2.0 kit, its the '95 issue F/J.

Oh well I got through it all. At least they are not rubber and impossible to sand!!!!

I think I may jam them on a stick and gang sand them next time, I need to build a second unit for the Nats....got an idea...
