Sci-Fi in latest Issue of FSM

Unless it's a $1.98 cheepie, your family camera will do- providing it can get close enough. Try photographing in bright sunshine using a colored piece of cloth or paper under the model- a neutral color such as gray is best. You can buy a yard for less than 2.00 at most wal-marts and reserve it for the photo sessions. If you want to submit a digital photo you need a camera that takes at least a 3-megapixel photo. Worst they can say is- "this doesn't meet our present needs"- at best you'll get a check! So take the plunge-

To the left of the forums, under the 'Contact Us' heading, click on 'Submission Guide' and that will tell you what FSM is looking for.

Though I don't think I'd have enough new things to say to warrant an atricle, I have considered sending pictures for the gallery. The catch there is that I have that whole "is it good enough to not be an embarassment" hang-up.

Maybe it's time I sent in some pics anyway. Does anyone know the best way to get good pics that will be useable to FSM? I suspect my basic camera for family photos wouldn't quite get the picture quality they'd expect.

I've been considering a subscription, over just buying them on the stand. Maybe a subscription NOW will help show sci-fi support and interest.

Speaking as one who has written for FSM- I have submitted 5 articles and all but one will see print. NONE were of fhe usual fare- (The latest issue has one of my articles- building the three stooges) F[:0]SM will publish and gladly, Sci-FI building articles
provided they are well written and have good photos.(#! requirement) GET BUSY WRITING BOYS. [:0]

True, submissions are few but maybe positive acknowledgement can help that too. I know there are a lot of talented Sci-Fi modelers who have not submitted work because they feel it will not get published. It's kind of a vicous cirlce now. They won't submit to FSM because FSM does not publish much sci-fi work - FSM not publish much sci-fi work because they don't get much to publish.

I myself would like to submit but I don't yet have the talent (Note i say 'yet'. Someday I will submit. I have the project in mind) but from all the web sites I've seen out there, there are many talented indivuals who do amazing work. Maybe recognition of these magazine issues will prompt submissions by them.

From what I understand , if no one submits articles , none can be published.
I don't think that there is a bias against sci-fi articles ,just a lack of submissions.
