MkV11 Viper 1/48th scale my WIP some pics
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 2:18 PM

Here are a couple of photos of my current scratchbuild .. a Galactica MkV11 Viper to 1/48th scale.  Basically balsa wood, plastic coke bottle and bits off a downed A10!

Very nice! And quick. I like the swept back engine part. Slightly different from the original, but it looks like a variant. You might post this over at Starship Modeler forum.

Hi Steven

A long way to go yet!  Panel lines need scribing ...now that's a major test!  Then decals and flat coat to finish...

All I can say about the panel lines is go slow. Light pressure on the first few passes until they're deep enough. Are you making your own decals fot it?

I think I have extra black logos, but in 1/24 scale. I think JBOT or somebody like that did the decals for the other Mk VII models, I'm sure you could buy a sheet from them. I had to dig up an extra "No Step" for the top of the head up display. Let me know if I can help further.

Panels scribed and decals added. So have applied the weathering to hopefully recreate a much used & abused craft.  Still without a canopy as tragedy struck when the one from the A10 (which was ideal!) split as I tried to fit it!!

Ouch! Someone around here may have a spare one, but any of my inquiries for parts in the Aircraft forum have gone unanswered.

Good choice. That's the only studio scale one I'm missing.
