My 1/72 Star Wars projects.

Those AMT kits - I can't get over how bad the instructions are... 

The paint on the Snow Speeder varied from ship to ship but I think they were overall painted in a light gray like the X-Wing and Y-Wings with a "White Wash" overcoat for camoflage.

The AT-AT was at best a Medium Gray.

Mobe, I dont know the exact colour, but for my little dicast 1/72 speeder, I painted it a base colour of flat black first and then sprayed it tan with a generaic rattle tin from my local hardware store.. I did a few coats slowly building up the colour and preshading, it gives a greyish tan look to it..

Yeah, he always flew an X-Wing The A & B wing pilots wear a completely different flight suit & helmet.

Wedge flew a A-wing against the Death Star II in the Return of the Jedi. Wedge was flying escort for the Falcon through the tunnels of the Death Star II.

No I didnt.. Actually I am not a big fan of either the A-Wing or the B-Wing fighters. Infact, cant stand them..Dont know why, but they have never really appealed to me..

So I take it you didn't do the 1/48 scale  resin A-wing fighter then I saw the preview pics of it last year on the Starship modeler forum and it looked sweet.

Well I did a 1/48 Y-Wing last year as a resin kit, and added all the copper tubing by hand, so I am happy with that one.. But definately the 1/48 FM X-Wing will take over from the one I have as the partner to the Y-Wing..  I am a big fan of the Ep II Jedi Starfighter, so I would like to see that done in 1/48 without the ring..

After I finish up a few things, my next project will be my favourite ship of all time, and that is the 1/48 Naboo N1 Starfighter... I hated it at first, but now it is my most loved design...I will be scratching either landing gear. Or the steps (holding pod) that you see at the beginning of Ep II on the landing pad..

Thanks Mikey.. Actually, in all honesty, I already had 2 Jango kits and simply didnt want to spend the money getting a Boba kit, so that was the main reason. Plus, I was just looking to make it as simple a build as possible, as I am building them both together.. In saying that, unless you really know your Star Wars, and you like everything to be canon, then I guess, I can be happy with just using the 2 Jango kits..

As for Fine Molds. I am awaiting the Sept release of the 1/48 X-Wing.. I thought I had built the ultimate 1/48 X-Wing with the work that I put into the one I did last summer. But when I heard about the Fine Molds version, I knew that it had to be a given that I would get it..

Will have to check it out..

Hey can understand the getting married thing. he he he.. My wife is Japanese, and so the reason we came back here in 2001..  Good luck with the Japanese study.. Where are you taking lessons?.. I definately want to keep it up when I return back to Aus.. My wife refuses to help me study.. Although my daughter who is about to start grade 1 is bilingual.. Kids huh!..

Cool, Japan, hey. That was something I always wanted to do dearly, but ended up getting married, and now never will... Now I just go there on holidays. But even then, it has probably been over 7 years since my last overseas holiday... Where is time going...

With the internet though now, I can basically buy everything from Japan online easily, and the amount of movies anime that gets released in English speaking countries is great. I've started learing Japanese again though.

I do miss the food and all the cool stuff over there. And the bread shops... I love anpan and andonuts. You can get them in Chinatown in Brisbane but not quite the same.

Thanks for the comments.. Actually, I am not a big diorama guy, but I actually like to display them on nice wooden bases. You really cant go wrong with the fine molds kits, they are just excellent kits to buid.. The snow speeder was a great find, as it really does suit at this size.. The Naboo fighter need some work however. I am in Japan, so I can get these from just about anywhere.. Will be returning back to Brisbane after 7 years away in December..

That Y-Wing is particularly nice. Are you looking at building dioramas for any of these?

Do you have a local (Bris) supplier for these kits? I'm in Brisbane too. Most of the kits I get on the internet... 

The Snowspeeder - I've wanted one of those since I was at primary school. A friend had one of those diecast ones, and I always wanted one. I loved it. You have piqued my interest in Star Wars vehicles again. And given Sci Fi models are my main area of interest (other than Vietnam Helicopters) it is an obvious choice.

Doesn't say alot for this board now days, when people have to bump up their own threads.. Anyways, here are a few updates with my completed FM Y-Wing & X-WIng..

Thanks.. Actually it is all done by hand (or air brush, masking, masking liquide ect ect :-)  ) . The only decals on either of them are the yellow markings on the Jango Slave One..

Boba's cockpit has been customised..

 As I mentioned, I used a Jango kit for the Boba Slave 1.. In saying that, I understand what is canon, and what is not.. But in saying that, I can understand over the years Boba making upgrades to the Slave 1, but to completely re-design the interior, I have an issue with.. So that is why I stayed with the set up of the Jango cockpit, but added the console from the mpc kit..

I have also decided to light the cockpit.. Nothing much, just one simple led..
