You might have better luck scratchbuilding a big Excelsior.  From what I've seen and heard of the Lunar Models kit, the proportions are noticeably off and it's a real pain to put together.  It was a nice kit for the time, but you can tell it was made before we had access to a wealth of reference pictures of the studio model.

BTW, about the Platz repops- everything J-Hulk wrote is pretty much spot on.  They're the exact same thing as the AMTs, only you get a nicer set of decals and possibly a cheaper price than you would pay on eBay.  My only beef is that the Enterprise-C decal sheet has alternate options for the saucer registry number and ship name, yet it only includes side pendants for the Enterprise name.  The weird thing is, the sheet includes the name "Zhukov", as well as the mispelling "Zuhkov" that ended up on the studio miniature.  I just thought it was funny that they could have that kind of attention to detail when it comes to accuracy, yet they forgot to include all the necessary decals for the alternate names.

You are correct. They are the exact same plastic parts pressed from the exact same AMT/ERTL molds as the last releases (or re-releases, as the case may be) of the kits. No additions or improvements to the molds...although the addition of the brand new and entirely accurate decals by Cartograf are a big improvement. New box art, too. The quality of the plastic and the sharpness of the moldings are identical to the latest AMT/ERTL releases.

But that's the whole point: the latest AMT/ERTL releases and re-releases were a LOOONG time ago...and there will never be any more from AMT/ERTL. Platz had the opportunity to use the molds and offer these four kits again to a new generation of Trek fans or fans who missed out the first time around (like me...I never bought the -C or -E), and they took it. Judging from the sometimes crazy prices we see these kits going for on Internet auction sites (ocassionally a good deal can be had, of course), the demand is obviously still there, and with the inclusion of the new decals, a better model can be had from Platz than from the original releases.

Thanks For the reply man. Yeah I found two people willing to sell there so I think I will get one of those two. Yeah that model is going to be done up with a more simple but effective approach.  Thanks again :).

Sorry, can't help. You can find the AMT model about the place (and that is a big one too), but can't find anything on the Lunar Model one.

If you are going to do it up like your Enterprise though,  the injected AMT kit might be a better option to a resin kit. ?
