Patlabor Master Grade Kits
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 3:41 AM

I figured this deserved a thread of it's own, especially as yesterday a new Master Grade Ingram kit was announced:

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10062294

It is a 3 in 1 arrangement, where you can build one of either Ingram 1, 2, 3. Flash lamp led kit also.

I'd like to get a bit more info on it though, see what is different to the others. Eg, are they WXiii versions of the ingrams, TV versions or Movie 1 versions.

So MG kits. These are the ones I have:

- Ingram 1

- Ingram 2

- Ingram 3

- Reactive Armour Ingram 1

- Reactive Armour Ingram 2 & 3 (x2)

- Ingram 3 WXiii version (flashlamp)

- Griffon Aqua Type

- Griffon Flight type

- Special Control Vehicle

I'm missing the Exttlabor

Mate, good to see that you are interested in the Japanese kits..

Its just a shame after all of the mass bannings, that the sci-fi section has lost a great deal of characters and postee's.. I have to be honest and say that, the section on this site has simply died, and the fact that it is only getting one or two posts per day would suggest that!..

I just hope you get the info you need..

Cheers, Chris

The Fichtenfoo site (http://www.fichtenfoo.com) is good for info on making Japanese sci fi kits. They actually have a couple of Patlabor kits done up on there, but he does custom jobbies. I'm more interested in reproducing the anime experience.

It'd be great to get enough material for reference on Patlabor kits made/available. On another thread here I found out about some large scale Patlaborkits (resin and vinyl) I didn't even know existed, and still can't find anything on them online (eg, pictures etc).

There are also other Patlabor 3d stuff I'd like to get hold of. Like in the Patlabor PS game there is a card in there with an "RC Club" remote control Patlabor control vehicle. That would be pretty sweet.

I'd love to make a Patlabor hobby reference site myself if I could get enough info together.

It's about freakin time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I can have Ota backing up Izumi, or is that the other way around ???????? :-)

a new tool kit is most welcome, and Im happy to see the Palamp unit included.

I really dont want to mess with the reactive armor, I had a hard enough time to get rid of the seams and pour stubs on the vinyl parts on my MG PL.

has anyone come up with a way to get paint to stick to it so it will NOT flake off when moved?

According to the Fichtenfoo site he used a special flexible paint - but he doesn't mention any details. Maybe email him. I know you can get automotive vinyl paints (what upholsterers use for recolouring or touching up interiors).

Thanks! I have never spoken to Michael about his Labor kits, its usually about his Gundam or Ma.K works.  Flexible paint seems to be the way to go with that soft vinyl.

Have a look for "Vinyl Dyes". SEM and VHT make them in spray cans. Or go see an auto upholsterer (or a regular upholsterer). I know the one that worked on my Cougar had is in bottles, and gave me a little bottle of touchup.

I just spent a couple of minutes on Google looking up Vinyl dye and it is avialable in shops for under 5$ and according to a computer rebuilder is easy to use.

Thanks for the heads up! I didnt know they made such a thing!

FWIW, in old issue of Dengeki Hobby they used the Lacquer based paint thinned and then applied onto those vinyl parts...

Personally haven't done myself I don't know how reliable that coat would be...

I wonder if the new Ingram MG kits will have any figures in them. It'd be kind of disappointing if they didn't.

People! More great news! The 1/35th Command Car and Extl Labor are getting a repress - out in September! Along with the old Ingram 1, 2, and 3 kits (the ones with the figures)

I still haven't dug up any more on the new MG Ingram 1/2/3 special - every photo I've found does NOT show it coming with humans.

The new MG kit is out. It doesn't appear to be different to the old ones really, other than it having the flash kit (like the WXIII Ingram 2 did anyhow). They have pictures of the kit at 1999.co.jp.

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10062294

Looking at the sprues, they have just pasted together the character from other sets...

So an expensive way of buying the kit. Given the non-flash lamp kits are rereleased, and you can get them $20 each cheaper, you are paying a lot for the flash kit.

I was kind of hoping they'd have:

a) new figures (they had pictures in the booklet with action poses - that weren't in the kit

b) some of the upgrade bits (like the OVA conversion kit bits)
