Nice job!
I've always been intrigued by that "character." Always hoped that race of aliens would turn up in a sequal...

Nice job! Alien / Aliens subjects have always been some of my favorites. How did the contest go? Or has it yet to take place?

I get the same thing. I always wondered about that space jockey, seems like one of the characters might have noticed and said something like "Hey, there's a huge mummified guy there!" but, nothing. It was always very intriguing to me. That first movie had such a feel of suspense to it. Great film.

I think I remember Capt. Dallas taking a close look at the "Jockey" and remarking that the bones in the chest looked like they had exploded from inside. If I had been there I would have been a space-suited blur running back to the Nostromo! I have a sense of adventure but a much more developed sense of self-preservation...

Still, it would have been cool to see the set during the filming of that scene. Huge!!

Can someone PLEASE try again......then e-mail and let me know?

It is working now...or at least I can see it.

Ridley Scott said something in an interview later on about that Jockey being the sole pilot of this "Drop Ship" dropping off these 'engineered' life forms when something whent wrong....OOOPS!....I would say so!

I just tried again, no dice. Did you copy and paste the link, or try to type it all? I prefer copy and paste, fewer chances for me to screw up.

I wonder what undiscovered race of aliens that huge enormouse gigantic pilot would belong to. Hmmm. Reminds me of anime.

Congrats on your win! Having built this puppy twice (once for a customer) I can tell you how to get a great, cheep, base. Go look at Walmart in the storage and cake pan area. They sell a styrofoam "bowl" with a lid that is used for heating fajitas. It has a "stepped" down look and is smaller at the bottom than the top. It's about 2.00. Turn it over and the bottom has an indention that fits the space jockey base exactly! When you get it home, you'll find a flat area on one side like a nameplate. Write the letters "alien' with a marker in this space and then using a hot soldering iron or knife LIGHTLY trace the letters- melting them into the base. Use some ribbed wiring hose from Autozone( like they use for stereo wires) to add piping up the sides from the bottom. (use superglue to hold) Paint everything with rusty-looking acrylic paint. You'll have a custom looking base that's very impressive. I'll find a photo and post if you're intriqued. Big Smile [:D]

The race of aliens to which the Space Jockey belonged showed up again in the old Dark Horse comics Aliens series. I think the storyline was "Earth War". I don't remember specifically how the story went, but they showed up after the Aliens infested Earth and nearly destroyed the Human race. Those comics were really good. I think I'll go back and read them again...

I read a couple of those, but somehow missed the big guy, but I was never able to get the whole series. I reemmber it being pretty neat though. Talk about a total apocalypse, xenomorphs making it to earth, yuck.

Not that big. ;) It's Giger. H. R. Giger. Sounds like Eager. H. R. stands for Hans Rudi too. ;)
