Robot from Metropolis
Posted by Keyworth on Thursday, October 16, 2003 10:27 AM
Does anyone remember the manufacturer of the kit(s) of the robot from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis". I can't recall if it's resin, plastic, vinyl or multimedia. Brain is on slow scan today. Any help would be appreciated. - Ed

Hi, Ed!
Maria was released by Masudaya, who also released the 1/5 scale Robby and the LIS Robot kits.
It's a vinyl kit, Like Robby and the Robot. I've run across the kit from time to time, but not lately.
One local shop has a builtup for sale, but I've never asked the price.

Keyworth,
Amazing Figure Modeler magazine sells a line of kits which includes Maria. The figure is 1/8th scale made in resin. I've seen build-ups of her, very, very nice kit.

The Masudayakit shows up occassionally on ebay. It's about 18" tall and is made of vinyl. The base has two lights that shine up on the figure. I bought one several years ago and it's a beauty. Plan to pay around 100.00 bucks for it today.

Went back to that shop today to see if Maria was still hanging around, but as luck would have it, she's gone, Daddy, gone...

The shop owner said they turn up from time to time, and go for 10,000 yen ($90 US).
