All in all, I think it is a wonderful job! however, one point that has as yet escaped critique.... the rust and stain streaks that cover the gun tower... This is after all, the Death Star, a destined to orbit only facility in deep space, and thus, sublect to deep space elements... Meaning the rust steaks and stains would hint of an oxygen sufficient atmosphere that doesnt exist in deep space. But, by a purely artistic outlook I freakin' love it!!

I too always wondered why the original miniature was weathered when it was supposed to be in outer space.
I had a theory that those laser cannons were cranked out one by one on the surface of some planet and were just lined up by the hundreds of thousands outside, unprotected from the weather. I'm sure months or years passed till it was time for someone to arrive and haul them away to their new home.

Maybe dust particles and micro meteorites slowly stripped the paint down to the bare metal in some places. Puffs of oxygen from airlock openings and free O2 floating in space sometimes came into contact with the bare metal resulting in rust. Too big a stretch?
