Cylon Raider assembly line build
Posted by Tambo on Monday, December 10, 2007 9:25 PM

I just started building 3 of the 1978 Clyon Raider model kits.  They will have a factory fresh flight and then off to combat.

Very cool Tambo.

I just bought 2 Colonial Vipers off of EBay that will do battle once they are built. Wink [;)]

Yes they are releasing these again but with cockpits and clear canopies.

Hey, pretty swanky. Interested to see a finished product soon...Whistling [:-^]

Is that all rattle can and masking, or brush-painted stuff as well?

How are you planning on displaying these?

I'm not sure how I'm going to display them.  One of them belongs to a friend who had the kit and since I was making two why not 3....but for some reason 3 of these look sharp as hell.  For now they will just go into the collection.  when the Viper is done I'll think about some sort of display.

Tambo

they look great.  I remember I had the kit when first released back in the day, when they had shooting missiles (*the Viper had one from the snout) These look spot on!  They might look pretty spiffy in a flight display with one breaking off, as we always saw in the re-run footage from the original BSG.

Very nice series of builds. Is Revelle still going to repop these kits and does anyone know if there are going to be new kits available of the New BSG?

I was sent this base, hand crafted by a friend and I'm anxious to have a ship to display it with.

Really? I thought they were scheduled for later. I've looked around here and haven't seen a thing yet. I also did a search on the net and on;y came up with a couple of places and most of them said shipping Feb. I will keep an eye out though, thanks.

Very nice work on those ships! Thumbs Up [tup]

Always like the cylons and their ships, maybe I'll actually get one of those kits for myself; been mostly an armor and figure guy but have been looking at widening my horizons model wise.

That is the best weathering I have ever seen on a Cylon Raider. :-)

I'm waiting for the reissues soon to take a crack at one. But that detail you have there is inspiring. Great work!

Cool paints, bro. Just got a Raider and the Base Ship for my BD. Did you paint the basic colors according to the box? I'm thinking of using Testors' metallic colors for mine (silver, steel, aluminum, chrome...). It's been ages since I've seen TOS BSG; but, for some reason, I remember the Raiders having a shiny silverish look about them. Just not as polished as the Cylon warriors.
