Sci-Fi 1/1 scale weapons
Posted by Woody on Monday, October 20, 2003 1:18 AM
Does any one here build 1/1 scale Sci-Fi weapons or other prop like equipment? If so where do you buy them from?

Very cool Jon, thanks. Don't you love those amber grips on the blade runner gun! Cool [8D]

As far as I can tell the small arms of Matrix are real guns. The gun the Macavenchi's (Did I spell that right?, LOL) wife uses to shoot one of her husbands goons is one of the real world guns I'm looking for. You might remember this very same type of pistol was used by Leonard in Bladerunner. It is a four shot .357 magnum pepperbox of modern design. The company that made it, C.O.P., it intended it to be used as a police back-up weapon. On another note I just bought an Artasylum Star Trek: Enterprise Phase Pistol/Communicator. Does anyone know of an information source for these on the web? The box said that they are modeled directly from the original props and they look pretty good but I'm sure they need some work to be display models.

Comet Miniatures in the UK has loads of 1:1 scale sci-fi weapons - certainly had stuff from both Blade Runner and Aliens last time I popped over there about a week ago.
The website is:
www.comet-miniatures.com

Hope this helps

Very cool site Richard! The weapons page was being redone but the rest of the site was very nice. I'll check back later to see the weapons page.

Glad that helped out - they are a really good shop - have some excellent kits and really helpful as well. Some of the completed kits the staff have built are absolutely jaw-dropping. Not sure how true this is, but they are supposedly the best sci-fi model kit shop in the uk.

My folks live around the corner so I have to pass by the place when I go visit them - absolutely fatal, just can't resist a quick look around, then it is a case of "I like the look of that kit, I could do something with that!!"Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] The problem is the storage factor and I have to think of original ways and excuses to get them into the flat and convincing my girlfriend it was a totally necessary purchase!

Try masterreplicas.com -- I know they have light sabers for Star Wars and some other things as well. They are a little pricey, but the quality of the merchandise look pretty damn good.

If it's any good ??? My wife has been building it for the last two weeks, it's unbelievable. Whe she's finished with it, it will hang on the wall for sure.

I'm actually thinking of printing one normal paper, and transferring the drawings on sheet styrene to make a plastic version.
