WIP - Master Grade RX-78 Gundam Real Type
Posted by dj898 on Sunday, January 20, 2008 8:34 PM

been busy last night repainting this Casbal into real type scheme as a favour...
I used Tamiya & Gunze Acrylic paints for this one and yea~ I know I forgot to paint the HDM as asked. -__-;;

Put the olive drab and then used the mix of olive drab+dark yellow as the highlight
For white the base is the mix of white+pint of blue and pure white as the highlight
the yellow is the mix of orange+yellow with the orange as the highlight
Red is straight from GundamColor Red with the red+florescent pink as dry brushing

And after bit of fiddling with colour pencil it looks like this...
Yep! Hands are now painted. ^ ^
[Sorry about the messy background~]

And what it looks like after that was done.
Haven't touched the head yet coz not sure which way he wants me to take~
Still debating the amount of battle damage/weathering...

looking good so far.
you know until I came into the world of Gundam/ mecha modeling I would have never even considered having a bottle of flourescent pink in my paint rack. But now I know it can be blended with other colors to vary thier appearance.

 I use Tamiya paint on my gundams, just seems to work better for me than Model Master. I like using the tamiya and gunze Luft  RLM colors as much as possible....just seems to fit better and has some really cool shades of yellow like you have here. After using my RLM Gelb instead of Insignia Yellow, I like it much better.  how didyou paint the nozzles ? they look great!

What will be the untilmate setting for this unit?

The vernier is the metal replacement which hasn't been painted.

I'm planning to paint 'em like these ones I did for GM.

This model is based on the MSV version of RX-78 Gundam that was released by Bandai years ago under Gundam Real Type packaging.

For setting as you can see from the fist picture I was scratchbuilding the maintenance hanger though that has been put on hold as he wants different setting~ -__-;;

DJ looks very good

One of the reasons I dont do commission anymore is because I just cant build fast enough to suit the customer and they keep changing thier minds.

Are you using the Mechaskunk thrusters?

The one on GM is one of the first batch I got from him last year.

However the one on Gundam is from my junk box - must've picked up few when I was in Tokyo mid last year~
