Federation vs. Zeon (Gundam model contest)
Posted by tetsujin on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 12:51 PM

This is to all the Gundam fans out there.  We're having a little online model contest, deadline's at the end of March.  The theme is "Federation vs. Zeon" - Gundam subjects from the "Universal Century" timeline, anything (mobile suits, vehicles, ships, etc.) which can reasonably be described as belonging to either Federation or Zeon.

This contest is about more than just choosing a few winners, however. This is a chance for the Gundam fans to support their favorite faction: the first portion of the event will pit the two sides against each other until one is eliminated. In this way we hope to settle, once and for all, the question of which side is better.  (Personally, I'm rooting for Zeon!  :D)

So if you're interested in helping to answer this age-old question or just want to get in on the fun, we invite you to submit an entry during the month of March. We're going to have a few prize drawings as well - an airbrush and probably a model kit or two - so that's another good reason to enter.  :D

Anyway, I hope to see a lot of entries in March. If you'd like to discuss the contest or plans for entering, etc. feel free.

Minor update: we've announced some kit prizes for this event.

These prizes will be given out by random drawing, but to be eligible for the drawing you must

  1. Enter on the winning team
  2. Not be eliminated before the other team is defeated

Some of us have a particular interest in seeing our favorite side win, so we're offering these prizes as a sort of bounty.

I want to see Zeon win, so I'm offering a MG Kampfer as a prize if Zeon wins.

If Federation wins, a MG Groundtype Gundam (RX-79[g]) is being offered.

In addition we'll be having a random drawing for an airbrush - all entries in the contest will be eligible for this drawing, regardless of their final standing.

Contest is on for this month.  Pick one side, pick both sides, just enter.  There are some pretty cool prizes being given away.  Check it out!

I'm gonna enter.  I think I'll have my Hizack done.  I signed up at the site but I cant figure out how to post.  I'll figure it out in a month though.  If I can't theres something wrong with me and I shouldn't be allowed to handle an exacto and super glue. :-)

If at first you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment.

This should help you out with posting: http://www.mechamodelcomp.com/index.php?page_id=4

The idea we had is to get the community as involved in the contest as possible, and that includes posting up their own entries.  If you still have problems, just email one of the admins and they'll help you out!  All in all, it is very similar to posting in a forum.  We're still working on streamlining the entry process, so some feed back on useability is greatly encouraged!
