Actually it'll be easier to make MG Zaku II ver 2.0 into Zaku I ver 2.0 than Zaku II FZ ver 2.0...

-_-;

I only wish Bandai would just put out a MG FZ for those of us who aren't quite as good as some at modeling.

thanks for answering.

Seeing B-Club alread put out Zaku II FZ conversion resin kit for MG Zaku II F2 it looks unlikely...

Though there's still the hope if ever Bandai decided to relese MG Zaku II F2 ver 2.0 down the track...

I'm kinda new to this forum, so im sorry if you already stated the answer to my next question in an earlyer post.

What scale is this MS-06FZ/FH Zaku II FZ/FH?

I only ask cause I am a HUGE Zaku II fan.

PS: Its lookin great so far. Keep up the good work!Thumbs Up [tup]

It's 1:100 scale - I thought about going with 1:144 (my usual favorite scale) or 1:60 (so I could do more PG-style stuff like posable hands) but I decided on 1:100 'cause there's still a reasonable set of in-scale stuff for it to go with (MG stuff and conversions) and it's cheaper to cast than 1:60..  Plus it makes a more impressive display than 1:144 and is easier to sculpt..

Thanks for the comments!

More work on the shoulder armor:

Update

I'm trying to make the two halves of the shoulder armor match each other better and also match the plans better (I made a few mistakes in my templates) and I've made a lot of progress on the spikes...

IPB ImageZaku Kai Project Update
I've begun work on the Zaku's shoulder armor for the left shoulder.  To build the part I started by making five separate cross-sections (using my 3-D CG model as the basis).  I used the Gimp to inset the cross-sections by 2mm, the planned thickness for the part's hollow shell - then I applied the cross-sections to styrene, cut them out, and assembled them into a frame, filled in between the cross-sections with clay, and then laid a 2mm thick layer of epoxy putty (Aves) on top to create the part.

The part still needs to be refined a bit, and then details like the spikes need to be added on...  So far so good I guess.  :D

IPB ImageZaku Kai Project Update

Since I missed the January MMC deadline as well as the Wing group build deadline with my Sandrock, I'm taking a little break from it. I've been feeling very anxious to make progress on the Zaku again. Thumbing through the Gundam Scratch Build Manual is some comfort when I'm itching to make some progress on it but there's no substitute for the real deal.

Last time I posted WIP photos I was working on yet another new backpack part, starting over from the beginning yet again. The good news is that turned out quite well. It still needs some finishing touches but it's generally in good shape at this point.

Tonight I decided to work on the head: I've been feeling like I've spent too much time trying to do things and not enough time actually doing them... It's kind of a matter of confidence. Sometimes I can work on a part for hours and not actually get anywhere - usually because I'm trying too hard to get it right. I think the trick is to work hard enough to get it right, but not much harder than that. The work has to keep moving along or else it stagnates and then I really get stuck. biggrin.gif

With the head I'd had the left and right halves of the head separated so I could work on and verify them separately. This was good stuff and it did improve the overall quality of the part, but I decided it was time to put the halves back together in a permanent fashion and try to work from there.

I thought about a few ways I could try to do the snout - at this point probably I'll try carving the hollow out of the end, though I could always just build a new, hollow snout from plastic plate, too...

The big thing today was I added the power cables to the head. The actual cables and beads are just what I had on hand (though I may use the same parts for the final piece, I don't know) but the connection points at the front and back of the head are new. At this point the head looks a lot less abstract, much more what we expect in a Zaku.
