I know i'm a little late on the responce time, but i was in Korea when you posted this.

Anyway, here goes. the Zaku II/F2 does not necesarily always have the rocket pods on the legs. If it does, than it's on both legs not just one. And yes the weapon system would be subject to mission requiremnt/availability. the only differance in a normal F2 and a desert type is the special sand coverings on the joints to prevent exesive wear on the allredy overworked mobile suit. i have'nt found any thing that would suggest larger vents or backpack. Besides, the Gouf was more suited for desert warfare, but was not introduced early enough or in signifagant numbers to put a dent in the Zaku's solid combat record.

hope i answered your question. sorry to use a nuke to kill an ant.

ZakuII F2 Trop mods?
Posted by PatlaborUnit1 on Thursday, February 21, 2008 7:25 PM

Calling Zaku experten:

Is there a solid source on the mods made to the Zaku II F2 for desert use? I can tell from what little is on MAHQ.net that the F2 has the three shot rocket pod on the lower outboard leg. Would this be accurate for only the right side or would both be an option depending on mission requirement and availability ?

I would think that either a new radiator system or oversized vents would be required to vent the thermal buildup but I cannot find any references to that, nor can I find shots (other than the MSIGloo videos of Zakus in the desert) of the backpack/thrusters.

I know there is more to a Trop version of the beloved Zaku than just a tan paint job.  I am hoping to do a dual-suit display  using a trooper and squad commander version.

Any and all input on sources is really appreciated!

thanks guys!

Hail Zeon!
