Contemporary Madcat BattleMech
Posted by Bio-Dorc on Thursday, March 27, 2008 1:05 AM

I have always wondered what a more contemporary version of the Timerwolf/Madcat would

look like. I decided to use my old plain white Madcat as a base and detail the Mech to a

more 'tank-like' look. I severely battle damaged one leg and arm to expose the inner

componentry with some of the innards sticking out. I replaced the plastic weapon barrels

with metal rods. Most of the energy weapons were replaced with artillery/AAA

style weaponry to give it a contemporary look. Most of the surfaces are repanelled

and redetailed with millions of tiny little bits. The colour hints to a semi-desert

battlefield camouflage with a lot of dust and caked mud.

After a few months this is the result.

Superb work. I love the way that the menace of the Timber Wolf is still preserved.

Cheers

I'm not in to building Battlemechs, but always appreciate when someone builds a kit that look as realistic as yours does!  It looks as tho it could easily be a part of a SFX houses shelf for an upcoming movie.   I especially like the subdued colors.  Is that a solid resin kit, BTW?

Many thanks for the kind replies.

This was a plastic toy with a metal chassis. I never liked the boring look of it

(smooth white plastic panels with little to no detail) but I wanted a Madcat plenty bad.

Hence I sanded it smooth and completely repanelled and redetailed it.

Ah yes. Very nice. All the little greeblies really improve the appearance, particularly the rows of rivets.

I also like the hanging bits, like the power cables and such. Gives it a sense of size and mass.

My only suggestion would be to use more light when photographing it. Big Smile [:D]
