Orne,

I got your private message and checked out your photos. I really like the figures! Thanks for sharing them.

Any chance you could embed the images? I'd love to see them, but I'm having trouble accessing MSN groups.

The Major and one of the last two surviving Tachikomas, Musashi, seen in "Solid State Society".  Just love the idea that Kusanagi salvaged/kitbashed the Tachikomas.  Both from the 1/24 scale BanDai kit.

The Tachikoma was a little tricky to assemble since the major positionable PVC joints are simply shoved into their open sockets, then the upper dome is pressed down into the chassis to hold all the legs/arms in place.  Literally a hand-full.  There are several different modules for the center arm; one is the Gatling and another some type of laser-cannon if the small port is an indicator.  Neither need to be glued on in final assembly, and are interchangeable.  So are the small wheels/footpads with the separate set of tri-toed feet.

I used the remaining Duplicolor rattlecans (metallic/pewter greys and light blue) from my Enterprise project to paint the primary colors on the Tachikoma; the joints were flat white primer, and the scheme was sealed with Krylon matte.  The minor details were painted on with gelpens.  The Major's uniform was called out in greys on the instruction sheet, but used shades of blue acrylic instead.  Her gloves and boots were painted with prismacolor black; creases were shadowed with blue gelpen.  I left the skin color the base-tinted plastic, and only painted in the whites of her eyes; violet irises and lips were painted with gelpen.  Her hair was painted with purple metallic acrylic.  The base was just a standard wood plaque with a thin sheet of plastic glued over it to conceal the grain, and painted with Duplicolor pewter grey and Krylon clear satin.
