Yeah, AOL was kind enough to get rid of their pics and website hosting back in October.  I keep intending to go back and add all those pics to PhotoBucket or something similar, but have yet to get it done.  Just too big an undertaking for me to feel like grabbing hold of it right now.

That's some great work there, Griff, especially considering the relative size of the models in that scale.  I'm particularly impressed with the detail and finish on that Quonos 1.

Exactly my thoughts.  It's a large part of why I no longer do commimssion builds.  It stopped being fun and became more like a job.

BTW, shot a final dullcote on a BSG model, polished up the Buildup Review I'd been doing for Starship Modeler and sent off the Review and several pics.

Hah, ha!  You're such a commodian, Robb!  Smile [:)]

Thanks for the compliment.  I appreciate it.

Just what's on the Federation Models site.  At least, I don't think that I've got any other pics.  Any particular angle you'd like to see a pic taken from?  Just say the word and I'll do my best to get them snapped and on my site in the next couple of days.

Thanks again.  I've got several other D-7's that need to be finished, as well.  Plus, my two Vor'cha's that only need decaling, then dullcoting.  And all those Federation ships - most of which only need decaling and dullcoting, and some Romulans and my BSG ships.... Sad [:(]

I'm not a fast modeler either, at least you actually finish models. :)

It's been a while, but when you've got three kids and a career that takes you away from home for months at a time, it really hamstrings you.  I want to finish some stuff, but some days I'm just burned out on everything so just veg watching movies w/the kids or playing outside, spending Quality Time w/my wife or just staying away from models and The Hobby in general.  I don't want to burn out on modeling like I did a few years ago - and it took me almost ten years to recover.

See you at Wonderfest this year?

Sorry, no.  Timing is all wrong for me for several reasons.  Next year is very likely, tho.  I'll prolly sponsor the Unofficial Starship Modeler Suite again, just like this last year.  Big Smile [:D]

Thanks, Tony.  I feel the same way about those two designs, as well.  And not to toot my own horn, but the pics really don't do the model justice.

And just enough time for one more....

From one of the images a friend took at WonderFest '07, here's my 1/2500 Enterprise-E.  I'm not really happy with it, tho, so plan to strip the decals down and rename her U.S.S. Sovereign.  I've even got custom decals for her.  That way I can work on a detailed E-E from ST:NEM.  I dislike the movie intensely, but love the changes made to Entperprise, specifically the repositioning of the pylons, as well as the addition of the Norexan-class (Valdore) Warbird.

Anyhow, the pic:

Once I get the decals stripped and the new decals applied I'll put up new pics to my site.

And that's all I have for now.  I've got several more Trek and a few BSG models that are close to being finished, with several BSG ships just needing me to get off my backside and finally put some dullcote on them.

Further proof that I do indeed finish models.  I had a large number of larger scale models - mostly 1/537 scale - from years ago that I finished and are on my site.  However, my skills have become much better since those days more than ten years ago, and I took most of them off the shelf, stripped them down and had plans to rebuild (where necessary), repaint and decal.  Since that time, tho, my interest for Trek has changed in direction a bit - I'm now a Disciple of The Sacred Scale.

Anyhow, here are a few of my buildups from the last year or two.

I did several Buildups for Federation Models for their Dealers Table at WonderFest this last year (2007).  The below pics can be found on the FedMods site, as well.  These first two - along with several other views of these kits - can be found under the Millenia Models International section, which is in the Products section of the site:

MMI Cyclone-class Thru-Deck Cruiser

MMI Deep Space Station K-7

Yes, I know the K-7 decals aren't 100% correct.  I got the decals the day before I left for WonderFest and had pretty much no time until I got to WF.  Once I was there, I had the problem of not having time for the dullcoat to properly dry before getting the buildups down to the Dealers Room to Tracy.  So, the only option available at that time was to put the decals where we did for the K-7, KA, KB & KC markings.  For those who don't know, they should normally be placed on each of the "cones" facing outward.  I plan to see if I can get another set of decals from MMI and will strip and redo this kit or just let it stand and be sure to do my second K-7 100% correctly.

And there are these from VA Miniatures, in the Model Kits section of the FedMods site:

VA Miniatures Klingon K'T'Inga-class battlecruiser

VA Miniatures Klingon Warlock-class battlecruiser

I'll post more here in a bit. Big Smile [:D]

Some of my Finished Works
Posted by Griffworks on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 5:07 PM

Here are a few models that I've done over the last couple of years.  I never claimed to be a great modeler, nor will I ever be accused of being a fast modeler.  However, I do finish models, to include one master for kitting.  Wink [;)]

First up is my Buildup Review of the VA Miniatures Warlock-class Klingon battlecruiser in 1/2500 scale.  Not my best work, but it was a Review Sample that I'd been somewhat tardy in finishing, let alone sending in for almost a month when our Digicam was misplaced - then we moved and it was further misplaced....   Shock [:O]

The design is an original by Victor of VA Miniatures and one I've grown to like after initially finding it just sorta "Meh".  I've even modified one and will eventually post pics.

BTW, pics of this model were used by Federation Models for their website, check in the VA Miniatures section for the Warlock and Klingon K'T'Inga, as well as a few other models used by FedMods as samples for their site.  More to come on those. Big Smile [:D]

Constructive comments and criticisms welcome. Smile [:)]
