But I dont remember the old Raider moving as slick as the new one.

The old vipers and raiders where moving like planes in a dogfight.  I would even dare to say more : as far as I can remember, the new series of Battlestar Galactica is the first ever SciFi show where spacefighters are actually moving in a way that would be realistic for a spacecraft. Meaning that there is no innertion (spelling?) in space, spacecrafts should be able to move from full forward speed to full backward speed without any problem, making a 360 (the nes Starbuck's specialty) in a split second that kind of moves... sorry my english might not be good enough to actually say what I want to say, but I hope you get the idea.

Babylon 5 did a good job using actual physics for spacecraft movement.

I completely agree with you,  Its like the old arcade game Asteroids, You can rotate 360 degress in the center But as soon as you add some thrust you move in that derection intill you add the same amount of thrust the exact opiset do you slow down and stop.

I remember having a discussion about why they use bullet's fired from the Viper's and Raider's? Being that theres less of a grataional pull in space the Bullet's dont slow down intell they hit somthing!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I hope to get some pictures of my Classic Cylon Raider Cockpit up as soon as I can.

That's a cool idea.

Have you read Ray Anderson's book on dioramas? He does some forced perspective stuff by putting his dios in a box. This allows you to control the way the viewer sees the models, as well as how they are lit. Could offer a solution to your perspective problem.

Might be more work than you are looking to do, but a good read none the less.

Please keep us updated.

Thank You!

I forgot to add what i'm planing to do with my Raider. I'm planing to do a forced perspective "Dog Fight" but being that the Raider is 1:72 and the Viper is 1:32 scale is going to make this a little tricky. I'm planing to use my 1:72 scale New Galactica "Dog Foght" for a refrence. But I dont remember the old Raider moving as slick as the new one.

If you check out eBay, someone occasionally sells a resin cockpit tub kit for the Monogram Raider.  I have no clue what it costs for certain, but believe it was around $15 or $20.

BTW, another great site for BSG related materials is ByYourCommand.net.  They have a particularly nice Photogallery Section with a lot of great studio model and studio set pics.

HTH,

Scrach Building a 1:72 Cylon Raider Cockpit "Got Pictures"

Greating's  I started building the 1:72 classic Cylon Raider and planing to light it up scense they added clear enging parts to the old Raider.  I was thinking "It would be cool to have 3 red Cylon eyes in the cockpit" I'm plan to string a few fiber optics from the LED's i'm planing to light the engines with. But i'm going to need a cockpit to put my 3 Cylon Centurion's in!

I just rediscoverd a web site where I found these set shots.    If your interested in seeing more set photo's including a lot of Viper set's please go to http://www.cloudster.com and if this link dosent work just try a search for cloudster.com and you will find a link to this site.

I just found an old book printed by FSM parent company, Kalmbach Books, Original print date 1979. " Famous Spaceships Of Fact And Fantasy...and how to model them " Where I found this Picture  I had to do some photoshop work to get some old dings out.

Thank You For Your Time!
