Any fellow Zoid builder?

I have the Holo Tech Sabre Fang [tiger molded in transparent yellow] and a regular yellow one. Thes are the only two versions available inthe U.S. I want a red one eventually. If I don't get one online I'll just have to paint a yellow one.

I have a box of a red tiger I bought a couple of months ago. I thought it would be nice to paint it and make it more realistic. I agree that it would take a lot of work but is should be cool when done. Haven't touched it yet though.

I've just built one two about a month ago and I have just found the perfect color of lavender for it. I don't really care for this color for a war machine butt I at least wanted to build one in it's proper color.

Hi! I remember building a berserk fury for my brother and it was quite nice, we just assembled it out of the box but kept the stickers so we could paint it some other time.

Thanks for the links! In fact I ran by those sites by accident the other day while doing a web search. I'll have to join that yahoo group! Well i guess I would have to consider myself a Darth because i like to paint them. Currently i am customizing a Red Blade Liger [limited in Japan but the only one available in the US thus far]. I bought one to keep red and another I have painted black with additional weapons. The red one I am going to repaint red instead of leaving them in the molded in color. I think they are collector items but since I prefer to display mine rather than someday sell them i paint them for the most part, though most of mine are unpainted for the moment [it's hard to find Berzerk Fury's lavender and that wierd tourquise color that my Spinosaurous is molded in and I haven't learned to airbrush.lol]

I would also like to suggest to the scratch builders out there that they look into picking up a few Zoids. The parts have lots of grebbles (sp?) on them that would be very useful in Sci-Fi projects.
And if you have kids they're perfect, since they're amazingly easy to build, and they can set them into motion when done!

I picked up two of the "Liger Zero X" so that I could display both versions and some Dupli-color GM Black from the auto parts store to paint it [and to paint a couple of others].

With a nic like Gojulas you know I'm a Zoids freak. I've got several thousand dollars worth of them, including ultra rare ones like Gilvader and Cannonfort.

In the Zoids community there are Jedi's, those who build Zoids stock to preserve their pristine state, and Darths, those who hack, paint, and customize. The reason is that some concider Zoids collectable toys and others concider them model kits. I realize at Finescale Modeler you guys are going to think the Jedi's are crazy. All I can say it that it is a different impulse then what my drive you guys.

There are Darths out there that have done amazing work. In Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines they hold customizing contests as part of Zoids conventions.

Yes I built that one as part of a multi pack that Wal mart sells. I great way to get your son some more cheap zoids is to head out to Walmart. They have a four pack of small zoids featuring a rhino [my personal favorite], a beetle, the shark, and an alligator for only $9.99. Kya bee/Toy Liqudators has a BIG zoids sale right now and so does Toys R us [though not as cheap as Kay bee]. They are very fun to build because actually move. I also think they are great tools for kids to see "how things work" from an engineering and design standpoint. Personally I just like to paint them using realistic military armor styles. I'll be headin out to pick up another one or two today. I have assembled two Blade Ligers [one will be a custom] and Berserk Fury [a Raptor/tyrano looking beast] this week alone!lol It's beeen raining here so it will be awhile before I can paint out doors.

I don't really build them, but I did build one for my little boy last year. It looked like a Shark, don't know what it was called. I was surprised by the level of detail and remember at that time, thinking all the interesting shapes would be a boon for a sci-fi scratchbuilder.
