Ma.K inspired scratch build *Updated 6/29/08*

The PK40 Fledermaus is the main inspiration for this build.  It won't necessarily look like something that belongs in the Ma.K universe since it's coming from my brain and the odds and ends I have laying around.

The base kit is Bandai's 1/550 Val-walo.  I really like the general profile of this kit, though the pinchers have to go.  So far most of the modifications have been confined to the wings and the "***" end, for lack of a better word.  I've extended the wings and altered there shape; the same goes for the rear.

Some really rough mock-up pictures.

I'm shooting for a scale of around 1/35.  Somewhere in there I'm going to attempt to add a cockpit (stolen from a horrible revell A-10 kit).  There will also be, in MaK spirit, lots of wires and other greeblies, lots of panel lines, maybe some open hatches.  Aside from the dual gatling guns I will be adding some weapons stores from the afore mentioned A-10, missiles and bombs and such.  I haven't decided on how to construct the landing gear.  I'm leaning toward skids like the PK40, though I still might use tires.  The only problem with that is then I'd have to construct a retracting mechanism and find somewhere for them to retract to.  Anyway, there is still much work to be done.

Let me know what you think.  Criticism is always appreciated, provided it's constructive.

I love the MaKs, so I'll keep an eye on this too.

Do you have a link to what the original kit looked like?

Wait, I'm confused. Didn't M9 ask about Keroro in a different thread?  How'd that answer wind up here?  It's like 4:10 in the am here so I'm wondering if I'm seeing things.

If at first you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment.

Progress has been fairly slow.  I cut vents in the wing, detailed them, and then removed it all because I didn't like it.  So I have to repair the damage I caused in my detailing attempt and start over.  The biggest accomplishments were that the tail got epoxy puttied on and smoothed out and the bucket to hold the cockpit was roughed out.  That's pretty much it.  Let me know what you think.  Suggestions are welcome too.
