Tis the season again! Hit those holiday decoration isles at the store and score some lighting supplies!

Sorry i can't help with the site. I either got my fibre optic DS9 at Kay Be Toy Liqudators or a discount store called Big Lots for about $10 about 2 or 3 years ago.
I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee [USA]. But I have found these Dollar Tree stores and similar stores all over the east coast . I know for a fact they are in Tennessee and Georgia but there are stores that sell similar mechandise eveywhere but under different names. Some of the stores names are as follows:
1] Everything's A Dollar [large chain]
2] Abraca Dollar [as in "Abra Cadabra"]
3] Dollar Tree [large chain]
4] There are other independent stores with various names which are own locally. they seem to get most of ther merch from the same place.

MartianGundamModeler, you said in your last post about your fibre optic DS9 station model. Where did you find that? I saw an article in an FSM or one of the other many publications I buy about a website that sells all sorts of Sci-Fi kits and many of the Star Trek models had the light-up kits included with them. I've been going through all of my mags, but I can't find that article again. Maybe you know of the site I'm trying to find. Either way, maybe you can tell me where you got yours and that would help me as well.
Thanks for any help.

New store just opened up at the mall today called Dollar Mania. Same stuff as Dollar Tree but guess what i found. They have a cheap fiber optic lamp called "The UFO Lamp". It is cheap looking but it runs on two AA batteries, contains some colored christmas type bulbs, tons of fiber optic filaments, and a circuit to make the lights flash. The result being multicolor micro blinkies! I plan to use it to illuminate the dash on my KARR model I'm working on. I still have the mini drill that came with my fibre optic DS9 station for drilling fibre optic holes.
They also had a small child's necklace shaped like a big spiked star-like crystal made out of a tranparent rubber-like material which contained a small ball containing multi-color LEDs and runs on button cells. Dern thing is bright flashes like crazy can't wait to find something to stick it in. It will work great with the fibre optics!

Also at Dollar Tree they have a flashing red LED railroad crossing sign overn in their Christmas minatures. I used them to illuminate the eye on my 15'' Arnold Terminator 2 model! Won a gold medal. I see I am not the only one who scavenges Dollar Tree for electronics!LOLWink [;)]
My best kept secret is out!lol

Red & Green LED Lights - Cheap!

I went to the Dollar Tree store this evening and found a cheap source for red and green LED lights. They have a seasonal item called "Window Brighteners". You can harvest 9 green LED's from the Christmas tree and 5 red LED's from the star. As a bonus you'll get a 9volt holder with each and some colored tubing that looks like it may have fiberoptic type qualities. Of course the Window Brighteners are a dollar a peice, Dollar Tree after all. LOL Wink [;)]
