Hi Guys,

I'm about to start building this kit (non-motorized version, recently re-released by Big T). Are there any pitfalls of which I shold be wary? Can anyone share their experince of building this kit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks Dave,

must say I'm far from convnced. Black anti-fouling? Gold torpedo warheads? Crew in blue overalls? Plus, White Ensign and Rear Admiral's flag? Nice model, though!

Cheers,

Chris.

Hey Bro, I have the old kit that I purchased at a model show. Everything is intact, but the instructions are all in Japanese. Does the re-release instructions come in English? I can build it with what I have, but I am kind of in the dark as to the painting. Also, I have been searching the enternet for ref photos of the actual boat, but there isn't a lot out there. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi Wes,

the new instructions come in English, German, French and Japanese. PM me and I'll send you a copy. Also, you're right, there aren't that many reference piccies on the net (but there are more of the basically identical Royal Navy Brave -class boats). Again, PM me and I'll send you what I've got.

Cheers,

Chris.

I built this kit 15 years ago and its still on the shelf. Very easy to build. I went with the box artist painting as far as the colors. It was back when Tamiya had real artists do the box art. The hull red is brighter than normal hull red and the deck is med-dark green. You could easily check for the correct uniform colors which I believe are accurate from the box I had. The new box may be different.
