2 damn near perfect models

I just have to say that, everytime I examine these pictures, I am more amazed! These really set a standard that compares favorably with John Tilley's excellent work!

These are very fine models to be sure, but the last bunch has been discussed on the forum before, mainly concerning the wind direction and the corresponding direction of the ships' flags.

And it's a plastic model. Wow

One of the FSM Bb members direct emailed me and ask me to explain why I thought they were "Near Perfect vs Perfect".  As I explained because of the simple following fact:

Because I did not own them! :(  Oh how I wish I did!

Agreed!  That is an outstanding example of how effective plastic can be.  Everyone else, it just gives us something to shoot for!

Love it or loathe it as a kit, with all of its shortcomings, as often quoted on this forum, that model of the Soleil Royal is a wonderful example of what can be done with a plastic kit.

Well done to the modeller.

Seeing photo's like these does make you consider stopping model making and taking up knitting. The way this gentleman does his rigging puts me in the kiddy corner
