Jeff:
So how can we follow up Jakes' idea and help out with this?

Actually,

For purposes of commercial use, it's a copyright violation. However, if we were to set up a library list of books that contained specific information for personal and private use, then that's within legal limits.

So, although I may not be able to post a copy of a page online, I could at least tell you wher you can find it...

Modelwarships.com is working on a model database much like what you're discussing here. A list of ships broken down by nation, type, and class, with what kits are available, in what scales, and what related reference materials go with those ships, books, PE sets, resin parts, etc...

This way, if someone posts up... "I want to build a model of a Fletcher...help", you simply point them to the database, and there's a list of the available kits, reference books, etc.

No reason why we can't integrate this into the kit projects under the title of 'General Modeling' books, then break it down according to type, rigging, planking, etc...

Hold the presses, I was just explained that even if one page was copied, it was a copyright violation, nix that idea.

Could work if there was some way to do it through this forum, or elsewhere in the FSM site, so people would not have to give out personal Email addresses if they were not inclined to do so. That way the information would be shared by all as well, kind of like posting photos like some do now.
Intriguing idea ...

Maybe we just stumbled on an idea, based on another post on ship rigging. How about a referance library? Each member list what book/manuales/ brouchures they have on ships and we can print it out so each member can contact someone for a quick photo copy?

I mayself have about 25 books on build/rigging/history that there's a ton of info in. I would not expect a member to copy a whole book, thats wrong, but a page ot two or small diagram would be nice.

What do you all think.

Jake
