                        I read where the early version of the Akagi had a slight uphill angle on her aft deck for planes landing and a downhill angle forward for planes taking off (putting gravity to work)...I believe this carried over to her deck after the last major refit and redesign before Pearl Harbor...Was this the only Japanese carrier (or any other nationality, for that matter) with such a feature?

                        Are you specifically thinking in terms of WWII flattops?  If not, I know the Brits used to (maybe still do for all I know) have a ramped flightdeck for their carriers with Harriers aboard...  probably not what you had in mind, but...

                        Yeah, they actually have full-fledged ramps for the harrier jump-jets...what I have in mind is much more subtle (a few degrees)...Akagi was a WW2 carrier...
