Sorry - checked the parts box and I guess that I didn't save the reduction gears, have some control arms, battery boxes, motor mounts, and two can motors, but no gears.

John:

I built the kit years ago - using it to "kitbash" a version of the Tirpitz as it might have appeared if it had survived the war but left out the motorizing parts.  I'll take a look in the parts box to see if I have any of the gears.

Lindberg has been sold at least twice in recent years, first to Craft House and most recently to J. Lloyd Int'l (www.lindberg-models.com) and the recent releases of these kits do not include the motorizing parts, but you might want to check with them.

Will search the parts box on Sunday and post an answer towards the evening.

Regards,

Mike

These models have been around for a very long time, and I think are still in production.  They are extremely inaccurate, but make good 'pool toys.' and are not expensive at all.  Perhaps you might simply buy another, or contact the lindberg company for a replacement.....

Lindberg Model Reduction Gears
Posted by johnrobert on Thursday, October 9, 2008 12:23 PM
Recently found a 1979 motorized Lindberg "Tirpitz" in 1/350.  This model has motorized turrets and rudders runing in adjustable patterns.  The model calls for the construction of a reduction gearbox.  There are 5 gears to be in the gerabox, my model is missing one of them. Thankfully, this is the only part missing from the kit.  The gear missing is the A gear, of which there are 3, and so I have 2.  I am considering my first resin-casting, but Matt Usher suggested that I post a note and see if anyone perhaps had one of these gears laying around or had another suggestion on how to replace the part.  Any help out there?
