As for the color,my dad told me that they did those measures for about a week unless they where going to dry dock for refit. Most of they time as he told he,they use to paint there ship standard haze/light sea gray with dark sea blue decks. The camo schemes where use very little as he told me,Digger.

One of the things to watch for is changes to the ship that are concurrent to the paint scheme changes.  There can be significant differences in AA aramaments and in a 10-12 month span, too.

Can be frustrating to get all of those tiny 20mm mounts painted to then see that they were ll doubles--or had been replaced with a twin or quad 40mm when that paint scheme was used.

This can occur in 1:1 scale, too.  USS Texas used to be displayed in post-war overall haze gray with 1.1" "chicago organs" as well as Kingfishers on the catapaults.  The last major refit saw her go into overall Sea Blue (with a correct deck blue, too) and scads of 20 & 40mm in correct mountings.

(FWIW, Texas weathered Ike very well, only relatively light wind damage--park was closed more for access reasons in the weeks after Ike.)

If you refer to the shipcamouflage.com database   http://www.shipcamouflage.com/usn_ca.htm

You will se that the SanFrancisco was in several measures during the war.   The Measure 21 of 1942 & 43 was an overall Navy Blue (5-N).   During 1944 she was reported to be in Measure 33 which is a light patterned dazzle http://www.shipcamouflage.com/measure_33.htm  In 1945 she was painted into Measure 22 which is Haze Gray (5-H) over Navy Blue (5-N)
