Have you checked www.navsource.org ? I did but couldn't find it. You might have better luck than me.

Try this site: http://www.modelship.info/debrisfield/index1.html

It's part of www.modelwarships.com and is dedicated to modeling merchant ships and special purpose vessels. Try posting on their forum. I found some info on the Lurline but not much else.

Looking for info on a ship Defiance or perhaps Defiant. I believe it was an Assault transport and was at Iwo Jima.
Searched and searched but found nothing.
My uncle, who was an officer aboard Matson Lines SS Lurline on Dec 7 41, served aboard her later in the war.
He told of standing on the bridge during a Kamikazi attack holding hands with the airdefence officer - nothing else left to do.
He was with Matson after the war so she may have been operated by Matson.Question [?]
I believe she was a merchant ship and not USN.
He passed away when I was quite young and so I do not remember any details as you can see.
Would love to build a model of her.
